After I had Jollibee in Alhambra, it became my first choice for fried chicken. I won't have other fried chicken if Jollibee is nearby. I was on a short vacation to Las Vegas and needed something to eat on the way. I checked the map and found a Jollibee in Rancho Cucamonga, not far from the I-210. Just before transitioning to I-15, there are not many restaurants along the way to Las Vegas, so this was the last chance for a good meal.
I followed Google Maps and it guided me to Seafood City. There are two big Filipino supermarket chains in Southern California: one is Seafood City and the other is Island Pacific Supermarket and Seafood. Seafood City always has a Grill City attached, while Island Pacific has PhilHouse. Both are Filipino fast food restaurants. I had PhilHouse twice at the Rancho Cucamonga location--very authentic and with good taste. Unfortunately, that location was closed, but fortunately Island Pacific has more than 30 locations, all attached with PhilHouse.
Jollibee is inside Seafood City, which makes sense since Jollibee is also a Filipino fast food chain. This time we had a Bucket Treat A, which includes a 6pc Chickenjoy Bucket, and I selected Spaghetti and Mashed Potato for the two sides.
The Chickenjoy Bucket had 3 pairs of legs and thighs, as good as always--crispy shell, tender and juicy chicken. By the way, remember to get the spicy one instead of plain. I had both, and the plain one was just flat and normal, but the spicy version had much more flavor. I mentioned in the review of the Jollibee headquarters location that the mashed potato was not made from powder but from real potatoes, so you can taste the potato chunks--very good texture.
The Jolly Spaghetti was very cute. It contained several tiny sausage pieces, and both the sausage and the spaghetti were sweet, but a bit too sweet. As a Shanghainese, I really have a sweet tooth, but still couldn't stand that sweetness. By the way, I didn't find any ground beef--maybe this side doesn't include ground beef in its ingredients?
Anyway, it was still a very good meal. Then I got back on the road and headed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally cool place! I tried it for the first time recently and the chicken was pretty good along with the gravy (we took the leftover gravy home and ate it with some chips). I visited because I was watching a YouTube video (Hiho kids- kids try Jollibee) and it looked pretty good. My mom and I shared a plate of spaghetti, one chicken leg and the gravy, and I also got a Halo halo desert. The spaghetti has a very different taste, distinct, and not the sort of savory garlic herby taste that it usually has, more sweet with a chopped up hot dog weenie. It's pretty good but I almost felt like I needed toast or some garlic bread to go with it. It seems like something kids and adults would enjoy! Overall really good though, I think the menu items are different from other places but they also don't overwhelm you with a huge variety, they had hot tuna sandwiches (looked like a hot pocket with tuna on the poster), breakfast options, I think they also had an ube slushy (ube comes from the taro root). Also!!! With the Halo halo dessert they give you the smallest scoop of purple ice cream (I believe its ube/taro flavor) AND IT IS DELICIOUS!!!! It's only about a table spoon of the ice cream but it's soo good, I hope they consider putting a menu option of just the ice cream with the creamy caramel flan-looking topping...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJollibee has the best fried chicken! Iāve come to this location quite a few times and theyāve always been pretty quick.
My last visit I placed an order online and went inside to pick it up. Unfortunately I didnāt notice that I was missing one of my drinks until I had already left. Iām not sure how it was missed on their end too because they werenāt busy at all when I got my order.
Their food was still as good as I remember though. I love their spicy chicken with the rice and gravy sauce. Such a delicious combination! Definitely recommend trying their spaghetti too. Itās a bit different than your traditional spaghetti because they include hot dog pieces and the sauce is a bit sweet. But itās one of my favorite menu items. And also make sure you grab their pineapple quencher, itās basically pineapple juice - but nonetheless - itās delicious!
Hopefully next time I visit they donāt forget one of my items. Thatās the only reason for four stars...
