Marshalls — Local services in Rich Township

This has got to be the WORST!!!! Marshalls in the suburbs. I don’t even know where to start. The store itself is always hot, messy, and dirty, but the real problem is the management and some of the staff. I’ve worked in management before, and honestly, the way this place is run is embarrassing. If corporate actually saw what was going on here, this store would be shut down.

I’ve been shopping here for over three years, and it used to be decent back in 2022 and 2023. Always stocked with merchandise, and the staff was actually friendly. Now it’s a complete joke. The older women working up front are unbelievably rude, and one time not too long ago pretty recently actually, I actually saw a cashier taking down her braids while ringing people up. That’s disgusting and so unprofessional. Like you’re at work not home!!

Now let’s talk about the managers. I read a review from someone named Janessa? before writing this, and wow! she nailed it. The store manager, Charlene, is the absolute worst. She is SO condescending, arrogant, and talks down to everyone like she’s above them. Ask her a simple question, and she’ll go off on some long-winded, nasty response like she just loves hearing herself talk. It’s unacceptable, I am a grown adult, and the way she speaks to people is like I said completely unacceptable. Honestly, I wouldn’t even speak to a child the way she speaks to customers and her staff. Speaking of I’ve overheard her during “team meetings” with her employees, occasionally, while shopping early and the way she talks to them is degrading. I feel so sorry for anyone who has to work under her. This is supposed to be a business, not her personal house where she can just act however she wants.

And then there’s the assistant manager I believe her name is Beckie? Haven’t seen her around too long. I think she might be new but gosh! She’s just as bad. I actually watched her flat-out ignore a customer who politely asked if she could discount an item because it was dirty. Instead of helping, she walked away with the most condescending attitude. Absolutely unbelievable.

At this point, something needs to change. This store has completely gone downhill, and the management is the main reason. Marshalls corporate needs to take a serious look at what’s going on here because it’s out of control.

All in all, this store is a disgrace lol. It’s filthy, messy, oh also the clothing racks are jammed so tight they’re unshoppable. The staff upfront shows zero professionalism, the managers are blatantly disrespectful, and the entire environment feels toxic and unwelcoming. As a long-time customer, it’s heartbreaking to see how far this location has fallen. Unless serious changes are made starting with management, this Marshalls will continue to push customers away and ruin the brand’s reputation. I will say to end this on a lighter note, not all the staff are terrible. There are some nice ladies and a gentleman I’ve met on the floor. who’ve been super helpful and super sweet. It’s honestly the people working upfront

Edit!!! I found a video of the girl taking down her hair on TikTok shortly after posting this review I attached a screenshot 🤣🤣 And the craziest part is her manager is right behind her!! That one name is Jennifer I believe I cannot make this up!!!!...

It's okay... hit or miss. Always understaffed like most stores in town. I do love shopping within my community and would like to more often. However, there are so many obstacles they need to overcome. I hope someone in management reads this so they can reevaluate the store and maybe fill it with better quality merchandise as opposed to Ross-ish styles. They flourish in the home goods dept., but clothes leave something to be desired.

1/28/20 - I went there a few days ago just to see if I could find baby shower gift items. I found plenty. Not sure what's changed in this one, but their selection and quality have definitely improved. I felt that deserved an update. The housewares were also in abundance. Nicely stocked at low prices. I definitely still prefer this store to Ross. You've earned yourselves another...

It has been a couple years since I have visited this Marshall's in Matteson. I was pleasantly surprised. It was definitely cleaner than my last visit. Shelf aisles have been widened making it easier to have room to move and navigate around other shoppers. The selection is good but I didn't find many shoes in larger woman sizes the day I shopped. Huge selection of hair and skin products. I love clearance racks and the selection did not disappoint! Be careful though, sometimes the racks were a little crowded but don't shy away, lots of gems here. The cashier was friendly and efficient.
