I went here looking for a place to eat thinking it was a casual sit-down, so I was surprised when it turned out to be a fast food restaurant (especially considering the prices). I went on half-price taco Tuesday, and I'm glad I did because the food definitely wasn't worth full price. On top of that, I was standing there waiting for my food thinking it would be a couple minutes (remember, fast food) and it didn't come. After about 5 minutes or so, someone else ordered and got their food almost immediately. So I went up to the counter and asked how long it would be and they thought my order was the next one ordered (so I guess no one saw me standing there waiting? Pretty oblivious). They had marked my order on their little screens as complete without making the food. Erg!
So I finally get my food, and at least they gave a hurried "sorry" plus a $10 gift card on my tray. I sat down to eat and found tacos bland and tasteless (I got a chicken soft taco and beef crisp taco). I got up and got some red and green sauce to see if that helped and it didn't. I ended up throwing 1/3 of the soft taco away. The tater tots were good, though.
I went back a couple weeks later to use the gift card. I got the platter which is $10 figuring it was pointless to have money left over. It had a crisp taco, crisp burrito, salad, refried beans, tater tots and a drink. The salad was a joke (some iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes and ranch dressing). The refried beans were eh. The crisp taco was eh. The only good food in there were the tater tots and crisp burrito. The crisp burrito was actually quite good (although expensive at about $3.50 each. You would need a couple to fill you up along with tater tots probably).
I might be tempted to go back for crisp burritos (too bad they don't have a half off crisp burrito day), but you can get good tater tots elsewhere. Maybe some of their other food is good, but not willing to pay casual restaurant prices at a fast food place in order...
Read moreWell, I have to say that this place is really up-and-coming. There have been changes in management and employees, and I know that this company really listens to feedback and tries to cater to the customer as much as they can.
I hear they are working on getting some gluten-free options, as well as a "healthy choices" menu. Personally, this would probably result in my visiting this restaurant a LOT more often, and I'm sure that's true for a great many people out there.
As for the atmosphere--they have added two televisions since the last time I was there, but they are always tuned to the channel "fox," which I find a little strange. Maybe one should be cartoons, since there are a lot of kids that eat here too?
I'm excited to see what happens next. There was a superbowl party--another new thing, from what I remember. And over christmas time, they had a raffle for a free ipod mini! I didn't win, but I was there to see the lady that /did/ win, and she was ecstatic, saying she never wins anything! Good for her.
Tumbleweeds, will you offer healthier options for those of us who do not consume meat and cheese? I know you make things from fresh ingrediants, which is WAY a step above other restaurants (need I remind you of the "horse meat" media lately???), but I can't excuse myself to go to your restaurant very often because the food is so HEAVY. Its delicious though when you're...
Read moreThis really did feel like a local version of a Taco Bell. While on the one hand I would say that it is a bit more like legitimate Mexican food than Taco Bell, it is still really really far away from actual Mexican food. To better illustrate my point... I just ate their a bit earlier today and ordered an enchilada plate. The enchilada was served with a salad and tater tots. I have never in my life, had tater tots together in a meal that was supposed to be considered as Mexican food. Somehow I was anticipating something more traditional like rice and beans. Anyhow, the food that I did have tasted fine, it just wasn't what I was expecting.
With respect to service, the employees of the restaurant were quite nice. The style of the restaurant is of a fast food restaurant since you order up at the front, and they drop the food off to your table. The decor of the establishment was quite austere.
TLDR: If you are in the mood for some food and a dining experience that is comparable to Taco Bell, but isn't Taco Bell, then you will probably enjoy...
