Hello, today I had an incident at this store and I called to report my issue but I also want a chance to put my complaint in writing. This incident involves a manager by the name of Letoya or Latoya. As I entered the store I grabbed a cart and looked at the items positioned in the entrance of the store. I found two chargers I was interested in purchasing and put them in my cart (one charger was pink and one was blue). Each worth $9. As I was looking at the items near the entrance I saw a manager speaking to a young associate and they were looking my way. Next thing I know they were behind me. I had this feeling that they were talking about me. I assumed that the manager told the young associate to follow me around the store. Itās opening hours so I know that thereās not many people in the store at this time. As I was looking around the store and walking through different aisles I noticed this young associate was following me. Every corner I turned, I saw her face looking at me. I did not feel comfortable shopping as I felt like I was being watched and followed. After some time I approached the manager in the fabric section of the store and I asked her if she had this associate follow me around the store. She stuttered and said āItās her job, sheās working.ā In a calm demeanor, and an even tone I tried to explain my rationale for why I felt I was being watched and followed and anytime I tried to get a word out she kept rudely interrupting me and saying āSheās working. Sheās working. Sheās working.ā She said this countless times and did not let me speak. She kept getting louder every time she said this. This happened at the fabric section of the store in front of a couple of other employees. Maybe 5 other employees including the young associate who was following me. She then told me, āIf you feel like someoneās following you, you can feel free to leave and if you feel followed thatās sus (suspicious) of you.ā I felt embarrassed, humiliated, and talked down on in front of a bunch of Hobby Lobby employees and customers. She was basically accusing me of being a suspicious customer and implying that I was shoplifting. I walked away as I no longer felt like shopping in the store. I told her, āI was just asking a simple question and youāre not giving me an answer.ā I walked towards the front and asked to speak to a manager, I was told she was the manager. She then approached me and I told her that it was not ok how she kept interrupting me and not letting me explain myself. I approached her calmly and I couldnāt voice my concerns to her as someone in a management position without her being defensive and passive aggressive. I told her that she still didnāt answer my question, āDid you ask that girl to follow me?ā And she said, āSheās working.ā Once again with attitude. I calmly told her, āOk, Iāll take that as a yes since youāre not saying no.ā In this situation I felt racially profiled, I was not in the store for longer than 2 minutes when I was already being followed. I am a young Hispanic woman, and there were three other white people entering the store around the same time that I did but I was the only one being followed. This manager did not address the issue I presented to her and reacted in an unprofessional manner. This had an impact on me, as a special education teacher who comes into this store to buy supplies and materials for my classroom, I felt unwelcomed and itās unlikely that Iāll return to this store. Itās unfortunate because Iāve been a customer of this store for years, around 4 years but I donāt feel comfortable returning to this store after she embarrassed and humiliated me in front of multiple store employees. This managerās body language, actions, and tone said more than her words. I donāt believe I deserved this treatment, especially since Iāve been a loyal Hobby Lobby customer for years. I wanted to make sure I got all of this down in writing in case future or past customers share a similar experience with this manager,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am somewhat concerned about two incidents that happened to me there. The first was when they were closing. The cashier was checking me out, I was buying eight skeins of yarn, and asked could I have change. Well, I did not know that they don't do change. No signs are posted to that affect. So, I said oh, alright, I didn't know. However, after that, another person of authority stop by to say the same thing no we don't do change. I said it's OK, but I could feel the tention. To be honest I felt like I had done something wrong. The cashier and other person made me feel uncomfortable, as if I had alterial motives for wanting change. The second incident was when I went to get more skeins. I was checking out I asked the cashier do they have coupons she said no we don't do that. My phone was low on power so I couldn't check. Yet, when I got to the car after buying more yarn, low and behold, after plugging the phone in, up pops the coupon. So, I say well, here it is, a coupon. So, I took the receipt and my now, have some power phone, back in the store. The same cashier was talking to another associate when I approved. I showed her the phone and that young lady had the nerve to say after I explained. See I said, showing her my phone you guys had a coupon. She, then lied and said but you didn't ask about coupons. I said, yes I did, but I said I cannot pull the page up because of low batteries. Then that child said oh well I cannot correct the suituation because of the cameras. She asked the girl next to her and that child said, you have to fix that. So, she did. What upset me was the none repentance of her will full mistake. She, lied about the coupon then she tried to make it my fault, and, she never apologized. I know that I see all types of Christian items at HOBBY LOBBY. That did impress me, I know I am a Christian all the days of my life, so selling things that represent (GOD AND CHRIST), is confusing for me. Because twice now I have been mistreated for no reason. Why? I know it cannot be because of the way I look, right, the year is 2018. Well there goes my illusion about HOBBY LOBBY. Selling things about God but empoyees asking like the devil. What a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just spent over an hour selecting over 40 items to decorate my business. Looking and reading the sale signs, the location of the signs and products, only to find out that half were not on sale. Even though they were found under, around and in high quantity next to the sign. Even though the description matched statements on the sale sign. When addressing it with the clerk, she was rude and directed me to the back of the store, to items no where near a sale sign. When questioning why they would store such large quantities of these pots next to a sale sign that is not on sale, she just continued to give me dirty looks as if I was in the wrong. Shorty, after our conversation began, the manager walked over to listen and did nothing. As I decided not to purchase the first 12 items, instead of addressing her rude facial expressions, he just began to gab the items as "go backs". The next 16 items were on sale but then once again, she stated the other 12 items were not. I again pointed out where I found them (next to the sale sign). Pointed out the description on the sale sign, and again asked why so many would be placed next to the sale sign if not on sale. With yet another dirty look not just to me this time but looking over at her co-worker for added support, I still could not get an answer other than those items were not on sale. Now this is not the first time I had heard others complain about this. In fact, this happened to my mother the other day. One, you would think they would stop putting items that are not on sale right next to the sign, especially a large amount of the same item. When doing so, most would thing, they are pushing that item. But most importantly, be kind. You do not need to give dirty looks to get your point across. This will only prevent me from shopping there again which is sad because I did shop there often but a sale is not more important to me then the...
