Horrible experience! I went to ALDI on July 11th, 2022. The address of the store is 7221 McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh PA 15237. An employee named John insulted me at the register in front of all other customers. It was my first time at ALDI & at the register I very nicely asked John if he charged me for bags. I was under the impression that I can get bags at the register like any other grocery store. I could tell by Johnâs face that he is in a bad mood & it seemed like he was already not very happy ringing up customers, so I had made sure that my tone extra polite & nice. However, as soon as I asked about bags, John got furious. He yelled in front of all other customers saying âhow would I know how many bags you wantâ. He was very loud & furious. I was in shock & in tears. It is not so much what he said, what bothers me that most is how he said it. Then I asked him where can I get bags, he said âsomewhere over thereâ without pointing out where. Then he moved on to the next customer with the same rude face. I am a very understanding person, however, there is a limit to how much nonsense I can take. I spoke with the store lead briefly & left. I am never going back to ALDI & I will make sure no one in my family or friends...
Read moreOne of our favorite grocery chains - small (compared to most local grocery stores) but easy to navigate. Fantastic prices. Very few name brands, but really good quality of most products. Price of coffee, cheese, dairy, bread, peanut butter, juice, jelly/jam/preserves, chips, nuts, trail mix, canned goods, frozen foods and baking supplies are unbeatable. Most are as inexpensive as Costco and Sam's Club without buying mass quantities. Very good tortillia chips and salsa's. Cereal is okay, meats are good quality and near regular price, lunch meat is good but prepackaged in one pound quantities (too much for us), okay paper products. Have not been brave enough to try their soda pop but Aldi's fruit juices are good quality at much less price. Produce is displayed without refrigeration but usually fresh and good quality (and, may we say, priced way lower than the competition. Nice (but small) refrigerated gourmet case with very good hummus and cheeses. Check out and 25 cent cart deposit is unusual but effective (you will rarely see a shopping cart in the lot). I am not sure why other chains don't catch on. Really friendly and...
Read moreI love Aldi, despite peopleâs misgivings. They have great seasonal items, including cheap corn beef for St Patrickâs day. The Aldi brands are very good, even at reduced prices. Eggs, milk, and cheese are all fresh, great frozen selection for general needs.
That said, donât go to an Aldi and buy fresh meat or produce expecting to keep it around for long. Use the meat or freeze it and buy veggies and fruit more regularly. Or supplement with another store, but if you want to save money, at least make Aldi a regular stop for everything else.
Also note that they wonât always have things youâve found before. The regular items will always be there, but the âAldi Finds,â are just that, stuff they found at a deep discount or seasonal items. Iâve found some great stuff there though! Just treat it as a bonus and not a place to look for something specific in...
