Love this place great service, I was there hour's!! I left at closing lol BUT my sales guy was understanding and HELPFUL, I allowed him to help others while I tried out mattresses he showed me he understood that that's exactly what it takes you can't just Mash on a bed with your hand or sit on it you have to lay on it the way you would if you were at home I love that he understood the principle of trying out a mattress he loved the fact that I knew how to appreciate picking a mattress after that we moved on to other things I came in for just the couch this gentleman got me into thinking about beds and Furniture so I must say very good salesmanship LOL also by the time I was done I spent nearly $3,000 very close to it in fact my total was $2,799.29 I loved the way he took care of me and knew the business of looking for merchandise the reason I say that is because I ran into a customer who I didn't know in the store and his sales lady told him certain things weren't available one of the same Furniture items I wanted my salesman went and looked it up on the computer and said that is available I can get you that and it wasn't going to be a 10-day or 10 week wait maybe the other sales lady was not yet familiar who knows but anyway I laughed at the other customer and told him you should have used my sales guy this review is long because I appreciate my process my place has been empty since I moved to Merrillville from down south my salesman knew how to get me to want or purchase the things at first I really wasn't going to do. I simply came in for just the couch only by the time I left I have bought a very good mattress it was the most expensive but I don't care just as he explained you need your rest to reset your body never thought of it that way again he recommended a mattress cover which I usually get from the store but I bought one from Bob's instead because it has the cooling technology just as the mattress that he introduced me to I mean this young man walked me from bed to bed telling me to try the left side or the right side and see which one I like until he figured out because I kept liking the right side of the bed he told me I know what kind of mattress you need and lo and behold he was correct I laid on the bed for like 20 or 30 minutes almost falling asleep while he went and assisted someone else when he came back he said oh you still on this one do you like it and I said I love it this one is great so we went with that mattress in that firmness next I bought the matching pillow cases to the mattress cover a couch and even a bed frame check this out that wasn't even on the floor when he realized what type of beds I liked he said I got the perfect idea almost forgot about it it's in the computer we no longer have it on the sales floor but I guarantee you we still got it in stock I bet you'll like it we went to the computer and there was my bed of my dreams loved it this young man needs to stay working at Bob's all day long he sent the text message to my phone for me to accept or apply for the credit cuz he ran my credit on the computer and then that's the one that doesn't take a hit it just gets you pre-approved then we did it with my cell phone and that was history everything went so smoothly after that even wait I forgot I had trouble with finishing the process because it kept saying my address was wrong this young man went to the computer and took care of it I mean amazing so I guess now I'll tell you the name of the person who took care of me his name is DAJUAN and I was at the Merrillville location all of these things took place yesterday September 17th 2024 I will be back for things like lamps area rugs and wall art . I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my extremely disappointing and frustrating experience at Bob’s Discount Furniture located in Merrillville, Indiana.
I purchased two dressers and a chest from the clearance section of the store. I informed the staff that I would return the following day—or that weekend—to pick up the items. However, when I came back to retrieve my furniture, I was told that there was no record of my purchase in the system. I provided all possible phone numbers, identification details, and the correct spelling of my name, yet I was repeatedly told my information could not be found.
What made this situation even more upsetting was the store manager’s dismissive and accusatory attitude, insinuating that I was lying about the purchase. Despite my insistence that I had completed the transaction, she offered no solutions or support. It wasn’t until I returned again and spoke with a much more helpful employee that my order was located. It turned out that my name had been misspelled and the wrong phone number had been entered, which was why my order didn’t appear in their system.
By the time the order was finally located, the furniture was no longer available. I was told that it had either been sold to someone else or could not be located. When I asked the staff to review the security footage to confirm my original transaction and identify what happened to my items, I was told it was “too late” and that the footage was no longer available.
This experience has not only been frustrating but also felt deceitful and unethical. I paid for furniture that I was never able to retrieve, and no resolution has been offered to make this right. In essence, my money was taken, and the merchandise was either resold or misplaced by Bob’s Discount Furniture. That is theft.
I expect a full investigation into this matter and a refund or replacement for the items I purchased. If this issue is not resolved promptly and fairly, I will not hesitate to escalate my complaint further, including contacting the Better Business Bureau, consumer protection agencies, and sharing my experience on public platforms to warn...
Read moreI love Bob’s! Being on a budget, I wanted quality and affordable. Other furniture stores were not meeting my needs. I love looking in their outlet section, because you never know what you may find. Sunday I found a beautiful sofa that Erica helped me with. Because it didn’t fit in my vehicle, I needed to rent a truck. Well on Monday when I went to pick it up, I decided to stop in their outlet room again; so glad I did. Erica was working again, I told her I was gonna take a look around, to see if there was anything else. Well I wound up finding another sofa, to put in the rec room. It was missing a part, but Erica was eager to see if she could find a part for me. She was able to locate the missing cord for the electric leather recliner sofa. She hooked it all up and we were able to make sure it worked and test it out. There was another sofa I was also interested in, but was missing some parts. She looked on line to get me the cost of the legs, plus we went to look on the main floor, before that to see how many legs were missing on the floor model; she lifted the sofa to get the main legs, plus the stabilizer legs. By counting and adding up the extra cost, I decided against that one, but bought the recliner one. She spent a good solid 2 hrs with me. Erica is a great employee that you all have. Gives special attention and listens to her customers. She worked very hard, making sure I would be satisfied with my purchase; because on outlet stuff, it’s a final sale.
