Wise Guys Discount Liquors — Local services in Ross Township

People from out of town don’t know Indiana rules and who reads dumb signs walking into a store? Not me. My daughter and I were at tjmaxx a couple doors down and I said let’s just walk down to the liquor store. I do my shopping and the lady at the counter didn’t acknowledge me when I walked up until I asked can I check out here. She was rude from the start. Then she asked for both of our ids. I was confused because nobody does that in Ohio. She said well you walked past multiple signs coming in the door. She said it’s state law. Would be nice to warn people who don’t know your state law a little better than a black and white computer printed paper amongst numerous other signs on the door. Ok, having been in law enforcement, I totally understand (and support) the notion of keeping liquor away from minors.

However, when it is 10:30 AM, you just got out from a swimming lesson, and they won't allow you into the store with your 2 year old (who was being carried) so you can buy your wife a birthday present? I think it is time to reinterpret your rules. No one under 21 while your store has a tasting in progress? Sure, that makes perfect sense (there are open liquor containers present). But 10:30 AM? There shouldn't be any sampling at that time of day. I guess the company feels it would be safer for parents to leave their children locked in the car while they shop. No thanks. No idea how this place has anywhere near a decent rating. The selection is terrible and the staff could care less about helping you find what your looking for. It's a huge store but still manages to have a laughable wine selection.

While attempting to check out with a cart full of booze, I walked up to two employees at the check out counter who were in deep conversion. I had to interrupt them in order to ask to be checked out . They told me the register was closed and resumed their personal conversation. I waited for another employee to finally check me out on a different register. Then the manager walked out from the back and the 2 other employees miraculously were open again.
