⭐ 1 Star Extremely Disappointing Experience – Culver’s, Merrillville, IN
I usually don’t frequent Culver’s, but I decided to give this location in Merrillville a try — and I really wish I hadn’t.
When I pulled up to the drive-thru, there was only one car in front of me, yet it took several minutes before anyone even acknowledged his order. By the time it was my turn, the employee asked me to wait again, even though it wasn’t busy. Eventually, I placed my order — burger combo and a medium mixer with three ingredients. She repeated my order correctly, and another worker even confirmed the ingredients for the mixer.
When I received my food, the mixer looked like soup — completely melted — and only had one of the ingredients I requested. I went inside to show them and asked if they could just remove it from my bill since I didn’t want it remade. The worker said he had to get the manager, which took about 3–5 minutes. The manager, Bethany, finally came out, but instead of resolving it or offering a refund, she said she couldn’t remove it and would get me a coupon instead.
That took another few minutes, and by the time she returned, my food was sitting in the car getting cold. When I finally got home, I discovered my food order was wrong, too. I’m out of $21 and still need to eat dinner!
The entire experience was chaotic and poorly managed. Staff seemed lost, unorganized, and unhappy. No smiles, no sense of urgency, and no concern for the customer. The manager didn’t seem engaged or aware of what was going on.
This was one of the worst fast-food experiences I’ve had. I won’t be returning to this location. Hopefully, management reviews this and makes some real changes, but for now — I’d recommend...
Read moreHORRIBLE staff. Came in for a quick stop and waited about half an hour (and ongoing, still waiting.) just to get the wrong drinks and overhear the “chef” complaining about an allergy and refusing to substitute an item (that they were completely able to do). Continued to make us wait for shakes just to come out after we finally got up and asked to tell us the shake mixer is down. Heard staff cussing eachorher out from the kitchen the entire time, playing around with sauce packets. Nobody was filling orders, there were about ten cars backed up for the full 40-50 minutes. The manager on floor (BLESS this lady) was left to handle around 10 kids, who decided they didn’t want to work their full shift and we watched quite a few walk out on her to go home. She had to remind many of them that she needed them until closing, and getting yelled&cussed at in return. There was a lady picking up DoorDash who came in about ten minutes after us and only finally got the food maybe 20-25 minutes later. Overall horrible horrible behaved staff, very dirty environment, and ended up only getting refunded our shakes and leaving (with cold food). Felt so bad for the floor manager. She was the only friendly staff through this entire trip. Thank you Culver’s for this eye opening trip and will be very mindful of my surroundings from not on, and make sure never to step foot into this establishment again.
Plus, the food we did get tastes horrible. Could compare the fries and...

2 piece Cod dinner. Tartar sauce and Cole slaw were good this time. Very skimpy on amount of fries, about 10 small fries 5 fried were mushy not crispy exterior. The 2 cod pieces were good size filets. One had crispy crust and was excellent. One had mushy crust, really ruined the experience. All for $15 dollars. Real poor quality control. Last time going there given this experience and the ones below. Tired of the poor quality and high prices. A lot better off going to a local church or American Legion Friday fish fry.
These prices are totally out of control. $8.00 for a double cheeseburger and an additional $3.70 for 1 scoop of flavored ice cream of the day. Absolutely ridiculous. I could get a complete lunch meal at China house in Valpo for $8.50 that is made up of a pot of hot tea, an egg roll, a main dish of meat and vegetables or shrimp and vegetables with fried rice or noodles and a fortune cookie. Culvers is just ripping people off. Also quality has been inconsistent. I.e. occasionally warm not hot burger, obviously sitting in warming basket instead of made to order. Occasionally mushy oily coating on fried cod. Poor tasteless tartar sauce, boring tasteless coleslaw, Never again! Where's the quality control. Especially when your paying excessive prices compared to McD's where you get buying one sandwich get one free with...
