Overall, unimpressed. This was my 2nd time visiting the store and was hoping for a more positive experience than the last time.
The last time I was there, the person working behind the counter had a hangover after a long night of poker. I only know because he was bragging about during a phone call he took. As a whole, he wasn't very enthusiastic and I decided to go to a another card shop in Marietta.
I went back today, a month or so later and perhaps it's just the mindset of the store or whatever, but again, very unimpressed with the customer service.
I had a card that is impossible to find any comps for and I was curious the value he thought it had. He asked the price I was asking for and he assumed I wanted to sell it to him. Not hardly...I tried to explain to him that I was curious what value he though it had.
He wanted to know what I paid for the card and I was uncomfortable telling him that. He seemed to take offense to that.
It's a card business, it's not something the anyone should take personal. Not everyone values everything the same, regardless of what the market says.
I was puzzled with his demeanor and overall poor way communication so I decided to leave the store.
As I was walking away, he assumed I was taking it personal or upset, as he said as much.
No, certainly not taking it personal nor upset. I have no intention of selling a 2/2 on card Tom Brady auto to a card shop. They make living off buying cards like that at 70%. I was just looking to pick up some Griffey singles and have a conversation with a collector about an extremely rare Tom Brady card.
I was also very unimpressed with the selection in the store. Very few quality cards to select from and the ones I saw, I felt they were extremely over priced.
For example, I have the same Justin Herbert card in the same PSA 9 grade. Let's just say his pricing was extremely higher than what I recently paid for mine.
He also had some wax but nothing crazy or desirable.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you save your time and go to CardsHQ.
Not only does CardsHQ have a far superior selection but the customer experience and service is...
Read moreIf you are planning to bring your kids here to talk about sports cards, think twice. If you are bringing them for Pokémon cards, you're in for a treat. The past few times I have been with my 12 year old, the guy that works on the Pokémon side has been very patient and kind. He will talk about the cards with him like an old friend. If it were not for him, this would be a 1-star review. At Thanksgiving, a family member gave my son a big box of old sports cards (mostly from 1975-2003). We had fun sorting them for a few days, did a lot of research, and picked a small lot to bring into the store. When he approached the owner, Dave, he all but turned his nose up at his cards and rudely dismissed the entire batch without looking at them (and they were mostly in protective/hard sleeves). Dave would much rather talk about the new signed Braves cards he got than humor us on our finds. I understand if he didn't want to purchase our cards, but a lot is communicated in tone and how you treat someone's kid. When he was done bragging, he asked us to move our things somewhere else because he didn't want us scratching his $1200 case.... I was in disbelief. Here we were, looking for guidance and mentorship in sports cards and he was completely dismissing us because we didn't have a big find for him. He missed an opportunity to cultivate some passion in a young collector that might have become a repeat customer - to both sides of the store. For now, we will only be returning for the Pokémon side. We will take our sports card...
Read moreWow. I was the only person in the store asking about PSA grading, what Mega Packs were available, and possible Aaron Judge or Derek Jeter rookies available for sale. Dave was busy looking at his phone on and off, and seemed annoyed by my questions. This is the first time I've ever posted a review on any store. When I offered some feedback on my experience, explaining he may have missed a sale he said he didn't want any feedback because he's been doing this for 30 years. Just wow. In reply to your response, not sure why you think I was upset about your advise about my cards from the 80's. I wasn't. I thought it was bad customer service for you to appear annoyed by my questions and walk to the back while staring at your phone. I was just trying to give you feedback in person, but apparently you find that audacious. Don't think further response will be productive since you clearly are happy with your way of doing business. P. S. It appears I am not alone in my experience based on other posts and word of mouth. Rather than dismissing our experiences in your store telling us how wrong we are, you may want to consider that is actually how we experienced your customer service . . ....
