We tried out the new Cocina and Tacos Mexican Market tonight, down by Walmart, and I wanted to give my review. As a disclaimer, I have all my tacos on a corn tortilla with cilantro, onions & salsa verde
Birria taco- it was a toss up between this one and the carnitas, but the dipping sauce gave it that extra umph of flavor. So good!
Carnitas taco- I was surprised by the flavor in this one. I've had lots of bland carnitas but this one was very good!
Al Pastor tacos- listen, I've yet to find a place that rivals the absolute BEST al pastor tacos I've ever had. That little nugget of gold lives in San Antonio, Texas and is called Taquitos West Ave (in case you're ever in the area) but these were good. They were flavorful but I wish the flavor was a bit more.
Carne Asada tacos- they were good and I enjoyed the flavor.
Grilled Chicken tacos- definitely the least flavorful. I was a bit disappointed, but was happy I had other tacos to go back to!
My husband got the carne asada burrito and thought it was good. He wishes there was cheese on it though. Obviously that can be very easily added.
All in all, it was a very good dinner and we would definitely go...

This place is spacious and very clean. There’s baskets as soon as you walk in so you can shop around, (I did buy some fresh tamales and chips to take home) All of their meat looked delicious and fresh.
Their dining area was very comfortable and the food was delicious. We got a little bit of everything, Quesabirria taco (it even comes with consome on the side!) JAAS taco - (green chili, cheese and carne asada) Pastor taco Carne asada taco Rice & beans Birria burrito
The waiting time was reasonably quick as they were super busy when we were there and you can see the staff in the kitchen were communicating and moving fast to get orders out.
They have a little bar where you can get your pico, cabbage, green & red salsa, guacamole and more! The staff was regularly checking on it and switching it out so it was always fresh.
All the staff were extremely nice and helpful, they were constantly bussing and cleaning tables, and welcoming guests as they looked for a place to sit. Their restroom was clean and spacious as well.

Read moreI cannot say enough good things about El Herroderros! This place is a true gem and has quickly become our favorite spot for authentic high quality Mexican food. Everything is made to order and is absolutely incredible! Their queso birria tacos with consomme are pure perfection. The salsa bar is always super fresh and they also have a different soup of the day each day of the week which is such a cool offering. The entire operation is top notch. The restaurant and market areas are impeccably clean and well organized. Their seating/dining area is very family friendly and casual. The staff is what really sets this place apart! Everyone is so sweet and welcoming and provides excellent service. They have a fantastic little market where they sell fresh produce, incredibly well cut meats and freshly made tortillas by the dozen. My husband is Hispanic and has found some unique Mexican candies he remembers from childhood there that he hasn’t been able to find elsewhere. We go multiple times a month and highly, highly recommend...
