I had been hearing stellar reviews of Gabe's and all the deals to be had, so when I was in the area I stopped in.
This store is like a burlington or gordmans kind of vibe without the pleasant aesthetic. Think Rural King meets Gordmans. And this location used to be a Gordman's that went out of business so I wasn't expecting that.... I was expecting MORE I guess.
Anywho. They had some cool stuff and name brands - carhart, nike, adidas, Doc Martens... but the pricing was all over the place. $5 for a 3 piece baby nike outfit but $7.99 for one pair of womens socks that weren't a name brand I recognize? Womens jammies - 3 piece sets, some were $20, nicer ones were $7. There doesn't seem to be a good pattern to pricing I guess.
When looking for shoes I found a lot of just one side of the shoe versus pairs... I tried on multiple pairs of shoes in my size but some didn't fit. Weird. The housewares area was a mess and again pricing all over. $5 for a single potholder... really?!
I liked that they have lots of items by the registers like Marshalls or TJ Maxx. This is usually one of my favorite areas to shop :)
I did make a couple stocking stuffer purchases and this is what I learned from the employee when I was checking out: a lot of items that come here are all that's left... so if they dont have your size, there won't be more some of the items are sized wrong and thats why they are here, so always try it on before you purchase they always carry carhart and nike, but other brands are hit and miss they do offer layaway and returns, which is nice
I might pop in again if I'm in the area, but I won't make a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas customer at Gabeās. Had case of tea that I was buying along with 4 other big bottles. Was told by cashier only sold individually. Told her I had bought case before. Another worker shouted up to cashier ā whatās wrong what did she say?ā Referring to me Cashier repeated what she had told me. The other worker said ā well you didnāt buy a case hereā after several times of repeating this statement I informed her I knew where I bought the tea. She continued to talk even though I ignored her and was getting ready to ask cashier to ring them up individually as I was buying for my grandsons retreat. But with this floor worker continuing to be unprofessional/ condescending as well as non customer friendly I decided to not purchase anything. I had only been in Gabes once before and had spent several hundred dollars. Now this worker list a good customer I am a 72 year old woman who can choose to spend her money elsewhere. I canāt speak for the other customers that heard this workers inappropriate statements. Workers like this can sabotage the success of a business and saturate the market. And businesses succeed by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible experience here. I have never been so disappointed in a customer service at a store. The store still had three and a half hours before closing, and we spent a good amount time choosing some shorts for my son, went to the open dressing room, pressed the call button and was yelled to across the store by an employee that the dressing rooms were closed. There was no sign indicating that. I walked up to the front desk and asked again if they could please open it for us. And was told very curtly, no, they are closed. After asking why, I was given no answer. Just they are closed. I asked to speak to the manager and was given the same answer. I said we would clean up after ourselves and put our items away, still āno, the dressing rooms are closedā. The time they spent arguing with me they could have easily walked over and unlocked it. Iām in shock at the rudeness of the manager. I will not be going giving any money to this...
