Until I hear from HB Flooring, this is the maximum review rating I can give until they resolve an issue. I settled on HB Flooring to replace carpet with hardwood floor in a 5500 square foot house. We spent alot of money on this floor. In the end, the floor looks good except for one transition board going into a bedroom, which was cut too short and they did not miter the corners around the molding, because they had cut it too short. Another board cut the right length needs to replace it. They did a great job on the rest of the transitions, so I thought it would be a simple fix and we would be taken care of. I contacted HB Flooring about the issue, after Heidi, the owner, contacted me about writing a review for her business. No problem, about writing a great review, but I told her we were good after the issue with the transition board was resolved. She said she would have the installer look at it. I thought I would receive a call to make an appointment. No, he just shows up unannouced. I am sick and still in my pajamas. He looks at it and acts as if the problem could not be fixed. I told him to come back in half an hour when I was dressed, and told him I was upset he showed up without a phone call in advance. He left, slammed our gate and never came back. Never heard from Heidi nor her installer and it has now been several weeks. You see, I paid an extra $300 for those transition boards and all of them should have been installed properly, but HB flooring were paid in full at that point and apparently did not want to deal with ordering a new board to fix the one that need to be fixed. Keep in mind that if you use HB Flooring you will have extra charges added to your bill in the end for transition board trim and any grinding to the subflooring which could add an extra $700 to $1000 to your end cost that was not included in the bid, and if you pay them before any problems are resolved, you will be on your own to resolve it yourself.
UPDATE: After reading the fictionalized response from the owner, and after some disturbing texts from her, I am downgrading the review to the lowest level, which should be a 0. I stated for now, I rated it low until the issue could be resolved. The owner, Heidi, had a chance to provide good customer service and fix the problem, and I would have gladly changed the review to a much higher level, but she chose to make me the villian in this whole affair. The board can be fixed and now she has stated that she will provide the board, but I will have to find someone to install it, as stated in a text from her. I only received any kind of resolution from her an hour after I posted the review. She was not present when the installer came back, so she really could not give any statement of my conversation with him and was not at all truthful of what she said in her response. They should have made an appointment with me and both been there. This man put me in an awkward position and had no intention of making the situation right and Heidi is in cahoots with him in the ugly side of this story. I wished I had done more shopping around before I committed to HB Flooring. I did not know about Carpets Plus when I first came to this area, but when I started shopping around for carpet for my stairs, after I received a $2100 bid to do the stairs from Heidi, and they came in $500 less on the bid for the same quality carpet, I had Carpets Plus do the carpet on the stairs. Maybe this is what really irked her. They have a knowledgable team and a huge showroom. Their professionalism shined compared to...
Read moreIn 2019, we contracted with HB Flooring to complete a remodel project at our main residence. One of several failed projects involved the remodel of a wall surrounding a gas fireplace in our living room. Existing materials were removed and new ship-lap was replaced. We trusted that the contractor would pull any appropriate permits and follow both city and fire code. After using our fireplace for a month, we quickly noticed that the new ship-lap was turning color from a bright white to a dark brown. This created an immediate fire hazard in our home. Upon bringing the concern to HB, they never physically came on-site to inspect the issue. They did respond, however, that they would address the situation, correct it, and issue a full credit for the original project amount. Further investigation determined that they did not use the proper fire materials behind the ship-lap to meet city and fire code. Rather than address it immediately, I found myself in an insurance case placed by HB against one of their subcontractors. The insurance company would not cover the damage because the contractor did not follow city permits and codes as required. Upon learning that the insurance wouldnât cover it, HB changed their tone from a cooperative one to a complete argumentative one. They were no longer willing to take accountability for what was clearly their mistake and only offered to reimburse a much smaller portion from the total project. They went completely against their original, written word. Conversations became combative at that point, and they claimed I could only speak with them if I involved a lawyer. Our experience was absolutely horrific with HB Flooring. I would not recommend them to anyone. You are better off spending your money elsewhere. No one should have an experience like this as a homeowner when you simply trust your contractor to do the right thing particularly when you are spending tens of thousands of dollars. We were simply seeking a fair reimbursement of $1,300. Do not be deceived by this company. They will treat you kindly to win your business but not take accountability for any of their mistakes and then try to blame it on you somehow. They lack professionalism, business ethics, and knowledge pertaining to building codes. Perhaps they know flooring, but I would argue they shouldnât be trusted...
Read moreI hired the Flooring Studio to lay laminate flooring throughout the house, tile two bathrooms, add backsplash to the kitchen, and add two closet doors to existing closets. I wasn't sure where to start so I hit the internet. I visited two flooring companies, both did not greet me after being there for about five minutes so I walked out. When I entered the Flooring Studio, I was immediately greeted by Julia. She was so friendly and chatty. I told her what I was looking to do and we walked around the studio looking at flooring and tiles. She gave me a lot of suggestions and choices. I wanted to stay in a budget and she kept me on track with that. I later met Heidi who was very friendly and knowledgable on what I was looking to have done. I planned to invest a lot of money and needed to feel comfortable and I immediately felt comfortable with Heidi to move forward. The idea was to have all the work done while I was out of town, how ever all materials were not available to make that happen. I was able to have one bathroom done and Heidi on the first day sent photos and asked me questions before the work was started. The laminate flooring was back ordered and she and Julia worked really hard and succeeded on getting in it a timely manner. I was home for all the other work and encountered all the sub contractors. All were very knowledgable and paid attention to detail in their work. All the workers were very friendly and professional in my home. There were just a few minor bumps, but Heidi was right on it. With the current situation of the pandemic, hard to find workers to show up to your home, Heidi was amazing at scheduling and getting all the work done in a timely manner. Both Heidi and Julia came to my home to check work. I really enjoyed working with the Flooring Studio and highly recommend...
