Janet's Antiques — Local services in Saint Petersburg

This was our second visit here. I don't remember much about the first visit, but I do remember this one. My partner and I were not greeted upon entering, but we noticed that everyone else was greeted with so much enthusiasm. I mean, you can hear the 2 guys greeting people from the back of the store. Strike 1 We walked directly to the left to the accessories chest because that's exactly what we came in for. They had a wide variety of merch. One of the male employees worked their way around to where we were and asked everyone around us if they needed help. Strike 2. Now, I didn't let it get to Strike 3 because I'm not the type to keep it quiet if I need help ans notice some disparity. So as the worker followed the "other" customers toward the front as he made small talk, I slowly trailed behind qith jewelry in hand. I had to say "excuse me. We've been waiting to ask if we need help". The employee came back to us and finally asked what he can help us with. He advised us that thw jewelry we were looking at was $5 a piece and than proceeds to point to a larger jewelry chest and states that "...that's more expensive though. I dont know if you want to look at that".

We thanked him and proceeded to look through the rest of the store. Once we end up in the front again, a woman with a colorful shirt says "hey ladies. Let us know if you need some help." Where the heck was she when we first came in? She must've gotten wind of my statement to the male employee earlier. Oh well. I don't know if I'll go back when I'm in town. Thanks to the lady behind the counter for acknowledging towards the end but...

What a wonderful store! The selection is varied, well curated and always updated. There is a focus on Mid Century Modern furniture and accessories. The prices are excellent. I have purchased many pieces of furniture, paintings and other various pieces I treasure. What really keeps me coming back for all these years are the two long time employees Suzanne and Dale. They are both extremely professional, personable and knowledgeable about the extensive selection at Janet's Antiques. Suzanne and Dale are never pushy and know that I love that thrill of "the hunt" for that perfect piece. Janet is very lucky to have these two people working for her! They are the reason I keep...

I’ve gone antique-ing all over the world, and this is one of the best antique stores I’ve ever been to. It really has beautiful pieces - it’s curated so well! There’re endless rooms with more and more wonderful items. The prices are also extremely reasonable.
