Highlight of our stay: Breakfast!||Breakfast is a full-service affair - you make your choice the evening before, and it is a lovely experience in the morning. My husband especially appreciated that the choices weren't all sweets; he likes some protein in the morning. We both thoroughly enjoyed our choices. The breakfast host was sweet and attentive; she made us feel very welcome. ||On the other hand, our arrival to the Inn was a frustrating experience. We had received an email before our arrival directing us to park in the "upper lot" due to the lower lot being repaved. There were no further instructions. So we arrived to the address listed in our confirmation but were unable to find the upper lot. We saw an iron gate, looking like a main entryway from the street, leading to steps up to the house. So we went through the gate, up the steep steps (we are in shape, but people our parents' age would not have been able to make this trek), to the ground floor. There was a door, but it required a key or a passcode. So then we went to the second floor via stairs and found a door with a doorbell and a phone to call the innkeeper. We tried to do so, with no answer. So then we wandered up the side of the house to try and find another entry and eventually located a door on the back side of the house that looked promising. That one opened, and we walked in to find an empty desk for the innkeeper. It had a bell to ring, which we did, to no response. The innkeeper eventually appeared a few minutes later and was apologetic for our experience. She showed us to the parking lot and gave us the address to use to get to it - which is completely separate from the Inn, on a different street, and requires going around the corner to the back side of the Inn. ||That's a long story, but a good example of the types of things that could be fixed with a simple instruction in the email confirmation: "Please use the address XYZ for the upper parking lot. The entry to the house is down the walkway to the right." ||We had several other experiences like this during our stay - frustrations that could have been alleviated with signage or instructions in the confirmation email. ||We found the carriage house we stayed in to be charming, with a comfortable first floor and a tub for two. The full kitchen was nice, though all we used was the refrigerator. It was stocked absolutely full with sodas and water, and there were some nice snacks there for us too. But we did not really sleep well at all due to the abundance of street noise. The carriage house is right on the main street up to the Capitol building and is not well-soundproofed. The listing does not mention its proximity to the road, and we would recommend it be amended to to do so. We would have chosen a different room, and probably had a much better night's sleep. Despite there being air conditioning, it was not quite powerful enough to cool the upper story all night. And the worst part of the experience in the room was the steeply sloping roof over one side of the bed--I hit my head hard, twice. I'm not sure how to fix that other than through a change in the layout of the room or some kind of visual indicator, but it put a damper on my experience of getting into and out of bed. ||As it is now, we would not stay again. With some adjustments as recommended above, this could be a lovely...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed two nights in the Canyonlands room. We were in Salt Lake for a company event and thought we'd make a weekend of it. We loved our stay at the Inn. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The room is on a corner and has two exterior walls. The windows had black-out shades that did an excellent job of keeping the room nice and dark. The room made good use of the space available. The fireplace was a nice, romantic touch. We stayed in January and the room stayed plenty warm even though it had two exterior walls and windows. The door had two deadbolts, one with a key hole and one without, I appreciated the privacy.
I slept poorly on this bed, though perhaps this type of mattress doesn't agree with me. The only other thing I could even think to complain about was the height of the shower head. I'm 6'0" and my wife is 5'10". We couldn't comfortably stand under the shower head as it came up to my chin. As this was the only room I stayed in I can't speak to the height in other rooms.
This being a weekend away from the kids, my wife and I enjoyed one another's company. A just married car in the parking lot suggests that we weren't the only other ones there enjoying each other's company. That being said, we couldn't hear anyone else in there rooms. The room was quiet and we felt that our privacy was intact.
Breakfast was delicious. Between the two mornings, we had three different breakfast options. Each one provided more than enough food for the both of us.
We can't recommend the Inn enough. We are already talking about our next stay and what room we'd like...
Read moreThe most lovely Inn I've stayed at.
Room: We stayed one night in Snow Canyon. The room is located on the first level and we had no issues with privacy. Beautiful views, beautiful spacious room and tub. I loved the robes, sodas/water outside our room (complimentary) and the fans they provided in our room. We even had a TV and DVD's we could checkout upstairs. Room was very clean, including the tub. The room also had a door that led to the outdoor patio which is under construction but still accessible. The only issue we had was that the room got a little too hot at night despite turning the AC on, fans and turning down the radiators. It wasn't that big of an issue since it's Fall but I would've felt comfortable reaching out to the staff if we really cared.
Staff: Staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and informative. When we checked in we asked if we could do a late checkout and never heard back from the front desk which was disappointing but other than that everything else was good.
Amenities: I loved the access we had to snacks, cookies, popcorn, coffee/hot chocolate, breakfast and sodas/water. All complimentary! The Wifi down in Snow Canyon was 3-4 bars which wasn't the best but could be improved. Pool table was great. Some of the grounds were under construction but didn't bother us since we were staying on the weekend.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We will be back again due to the great...
