Plato's Closet — Local services in San Antonio

I tried to sell a couple of items, one being a brand new $17.90 dress from Forever 21 with the price tag still on it (see attached pic) and they offered me $2!!!! That's totally insulting. They could sell the dress for $12, as they price so many other dresses (and some of those aren't new!), so they could at least give me $4. It's Ridiculous. I've been going to this Plato's Closet for a couple of years now and up until a year ago I have found really cute outfits that are in good shape. But, it seems lately the quality has really gone down. The clothes on the racks have pilling and fading, they look well worn and some are dirty and just very used, so there could be a correlation between the low money they're offering people and the quality they're putting on the racks. I have had instances where I found threads coming apart in the armpits, a small button missing and other surprises once I got home. That's my fault for trusting their "buyers" to have quality control. It's feeling more like a true thrift store these days, rather than a trendy clothes resale place. They need to get it together because there are other resell clothes options out there, and it doesn't take much for a business to go downhill. And, if something new and clean comes in, they need to give a fair price for it.

I'm giving them two stars because despite all this I'll probably continue to roll through occasionally to see what's available, but I really hope someone reads this review and takes this and other's similar feedback into consideration because I noticed they only comment on the...

I really have a problem with one certain manager at the store unfortunately one person is enough to ruin my entire experience at the store for always. For some reason every single time this manager is working, she feels it necessary to attach a shadow to me while I'm shopping in the jewelry department, accessories, or anywhere else in the store. I find it extremely rude. I'm not a thief, never have been, and never will be. It's really annoying to have to shop with somebody lurking over your shoulder the entire time. I like to take my time and look at every piece of jewelry, because I have the right to do so as a customer. I can't help it that they don't keep their stuff organized. it's a big mess and I spend half the time untangling it or picking it up off the floor. it's just super annoying when I've got an employee within 2 feet of me the entire time I'm in the store. Now if I come into the store and this managers not working, I'm thrilled because I know I'm going to be able to shop in peace and enjoy my experience there. unfortunately the fact that she's almost always working at The times I choose to go in, I've decided I'm just not going to go in the store anymore at all. It's nothing but a big waste of my time. It makes me angry and she's not only ruined my day, she's also ruined the store for me all together. I’ve come here three different times in two years and each time was a waste of time but this last one and most recent one today was the LAST time

I brought in a huge bag of just washed clothes and literally some with the tags still on them from the stores and NEVER worn

So they said they couldn’t make an offer because some was old and the style okay fine

But then they said “some” of the items had an odor and they placed a small clear bag on the top on in inside of the big bag with multiple (2) sticky notes saying “odor :(“ “wash + return” so I took my bags back in my car opened the small bag with the “odor” and it literally smelled like laundry detergent so I brought it back in and told them to smell it because I’m sure my nose is fine and then this blonde hair girl said “do you have a cat? Yeahhh some of the clothes we put back in the bag smelled like cat urine”

What sense does that make that the clothes you’d buy from me THAT DIDNT SMELL you put back in the bag with the ones you said you’d buy if I washed them and brought them back and btw ONE out of seven items smelled like cat urine so why not buy the six items and return the rest ???

I’m never coming back and I’m not recommending Plato’s to anyone because it’s such a dumb process and every time they scam last time I brought in some pants and shirts and they paid me 3 dollars for one shirt
