If you're an independent artist with a smaller budget, this place is not a great step for career development or building music business connections. This recording studio is super money hungry, militant about their booking policy, and not about creating community — just there to take your money and go. I reached out to book a 2 hour session in advance and unfortunately, the day before had some creative team resource issues on the day of. I followed up by emailing more than 14 hours in advance to notify them. I knew it went against their policy but as a visiting recording artist, apologized and tried to reschedule to further build a collaborative professional relationship.

There was so much unnecessary attitude, poor customer service skills, and lack of compassion throughout communications to rebook. They even made fun of my budget and resource issues so, not only will I not be supporting this business, but, I wouldn't bring any money to this classist, immoral business if it was shutting...

In 2020, I sought after several recording studios in the San Diego area who could capture my music in the way that I sonically envisioned. In this search, I came across Capricorn Studios and producer Kris Towne. Over a dozen recordings later, I haven't looked back since.

I've recorded at Capricorn studios many times since 2020 and have had a wonderful experience there every time. John is a great engineer and an all around awesome person. In addition to having in depth knowledge of recording equipment and techniques, John is a well rounded musician who is lots of fun to work with. He is supportive of the artists he's recording, cares about the final product, and is willing to offer creative input if needed. The studio is super pro, with all kinds of rad analog recording equipment. Kris is a great guy too; I've worked with him on several occasions as well. I'm a full time musician, working both as a hired session musician and a bandleader, and I highly recommend going to Capricorn Studios.
