I was pleasantly surprised to find this small market hidden on northwest corner of 1002 Market St. They were well stocked with just about everything that I needed and more; plenty of 'organic foods' that were fresh! "WOW!" Who ever told me was right about many of THEIR GROCERY prices ; they have literally turned some prices that were extremely low priced elsewhere upside down! When I compared the prices of the eight grocery items that I purchased at GROCERY OUTLET with those of other "value outlets" such as Walmart, Food For Less, etc., I was astounded! I had saved between about $8 and $10 (easily!): I have been doing "store to store" comparison shopping for over four decades now and Grocery Outlet Bargain Market was an extraordinary discovery!WOW💓 I am however, extremely selective. I was totally 'stoked' at some of their down right very low prices and especially their daily bargains! The palindrome that they cleverly employ, which epitomizes their store is a classic ; like the word...MOM, spelled backwards is...'MOM'.The same goes for their WOW!☺ I checked expiration dates and all were well postdated and their cashiers were all very friendly. Whenever I've had a question, one of their associates has been there to help me. Their prices, verses those of their competitors prices, are very visible (large and readable) so I could see that I was getting a bargin. There were certain areas in this store where items were selectively super low priced for a day or so😊. Sodas (coke, Dr pepper, and others for only fifty cents each, etc.)and fresh fruits are also a bargain. I also noticed that they didn't sell cigarette lighters either, which was really clever...guess that maybe they weren't into selling cigarettes either( some say that the percentage of smokers has dropped to about 14% of all California adults?). So? Why shouldn't some stores stop selling them; there is no way that they could be very profitable. If you sell tobacco products, you also - in my opinion - attract a few "undesirable characters!" How many shooters, bank robbers and business thieves -do you see - who are video taped or arrested, have a cigarette their mouth, their hand or somewhere on their person? There is a huge black market for cigarettes amongst the homeless street people too ; I see this every day, especially around the trolley lines and groups of major transit stops. On T.V? The bad guys usually always smoke cigarettes too and all the commercials that you see are made to deter smokers. The crux? IF YOU SMOKE, YOU LOSE!😧😳😫! Grocery Outlet also carries an awesome selection of different brands of wines, as there must have been over several hundred different types ( I might have been have dreaming, because I got lost within the midst of all of them) ; a glass of wine is supposedly a medical benefit : Just ask the Europeans! WOW! I'm sure that if you were a "wine conniseur" that you'd want to stop by🍇🍾🍷🍷😊✌ There was plenty of parking and the surrounding area was relatively calm and peaceful with some people strolling along the sidewalks. In the end? DON'T GET FOOLED BY ALL THE, "WIN/GET SOMETHING FOR FREE"GAMES!!!🤔." In the case of the $3 "FREE" e- mail coupon? I never got one and I've submitted several. The "Frequent Shopper" card? I've literally spent hundreds of dollars at this store however, unless you spend at least $20 (or more) and get 24 Punches on your card you get nothing for your money! YOU HAVE TO SPEND $240 on purchases of $20 or more to save a measly $10! and your purchases only count at the store that you shop at! Then comes the "PUT YOUR RECEIPT IN THE CLEAR PLASTIC BOX" and, with "the luck of the draw," you'll win a few bucks to spend on your next Grocery Outlet food bill. I can do better spending two bucks on the lotto. The moral to the last ditty? NOTHING IN OUR WORLD IS FREE, so take it all with a...
Read moreThis is my go-to to grocery store!! I live right on the middle between this location and their college area one but I love the frequent shopper card they have here. They give you a stamp for every $20 you spend and once you've spent $500, they give you $20 off your next purchase. Kinda cool.
Also, this location has a "grab and go" fridge with sandwiches and pastas that make great fast lunches, my other GO doesn't have that. However, this GO is much busier and a little more difficult to get in and out of because it's downtown. Although, there is plenty of parking in their private lot and metered parking on the surrounding streets (which I've never had to use to shop).
The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful even though they are always busy and I'm sure exhausted! They keep their isles neat and clean and don't randomly move things into other sections like lots of regular priced grocery stores. Plus they are always adding new things to their shelves every day!
Another thing I like about GO is that they accept Android and apple pay. One time I got all the way to there, remembered my list, forgot my wallet. But, I had my phone so I was good!
But, the best part about GO has to be how much money I save on my groceries!! I can't remember the last time I went to Vons or Ralph's to shop! Why pay more for the same stuff? Sometimes they get some interesting things on their shelves but I like trying new and different things sometimes... Other times I can see why it's on sale! 😂 I also enjoy checking their home goods isle and have found some great stuff including bath rugs, an essential oil diffuser, and a car vacuum, all at half the price of retail. Beauty needs too! I got a six pack of name brand deodorant for under $6! Razors, tampons, sunscreen, you name it! I love grocery...
Read moreI like this store but there's a chubby redhead male cashier (facial hair-glasses) who is getting on my nerves. I think he forgets he's the employee and gets bossy with the customers. There was an incident before that I just kind of dismissed, but today something else happened: I was already annoyed because store was crowded and couldn't walk without almost bumping into people at every turn, plus there was this guy with a huge dog that had literally just barked for some reason and it was heard in the whole store! I happen to be one of those few who's uncomfortable with BIG dogs and so when I went to check out, guess who ended up right behind me? The guy with his huge dog! So I placed my items on the conveyor; the area where the small baskets go was full, plus the dog was in the way, so I put the basket to the right, so that I didn't have to deal with the dog and I thought I was "home free", except I wasnt, because Mr Cashier Boss" requested that I wouldn't leave the basket there and handed it to him! So now I had to bend over again, face the freaking dog, just so that I can comply with the demands of the cashier. I mean, I understand where he was coming from, but he has no idea where the customers are coming from; I could be someone who has a physical impediment and have difficulty bending over or maybe I'm afraid of dogs and am trying to stay away as far as possible! So if he prefers things in a certain way, he should do it himself and not get bossy and preachy with the customers, even saying it was a "hazard". Well excuse me! I should've left the items in the basket for him to take out and that way he can stick the basket.......wherever his " Royal...
