I was SO disappointed in our experience with Dick's Sporting Goods today. My husband visited the new Point Loma location around noon in search of some compression pants for running/crossfit. He spent a few minutes searching and was directed simply to the Nike or Under Armour sections. He continued to look and eventually found a pair in the brand he was originally in the store for (2XU Compression tights, listed on the website) and did find them but wasn't sure the 2x higher price point was worth it, so he left with a pair of Nike compression pants instead.
Fast forward three hours later: he's just completed a workout in the Nike pants and they are already splitting at the seam (read: 1.5in hole) and have a snag quickly developing into a hole as well. I had an errand to run in the same shopping center and so I offered to return them and pick up the 2XU pants instead.
I arrived at Dick's and tried to locate the pants myself in the section he described, but things were a little lost in translation between man-brain and woman. Things were also being moved around in the post-holiday sale, so I thought that perhaps that section had been bumped a bit. I asked no less than three associates (one who was apparently the 'apparel person for the night') for help finding an item that I KNEW he had held in hand that same day. None of them were able to do more than point me in the Nike and UA section. I even pulled up the item number and listing on the website on my phone and asked an associate to see if they could find them through their inventory system. He condescendingly pulled up the public website and declared they weren't sold in store either.
I was frustrated nearly to tears and my 4 year old was picking up on it, so I left. My husband was frustrated by the complete lack of CS and a bit worried what it would mean for an attempt to return the ruined Nike pants, so he went back immediately. Guess what he came home with? A pair of 2XU compression tights, directly from the floor. He even asked an associate again just to see what the answer was. I'm completely astounded that a total of 5 different associates in one day had never heard of a product on the floor and had no desire to solve a customer's problem aside from a dismissive suggestion for a more popular (and less...
Read moreFirst time shopping at this store, we came here for one thing. First impression a lot of parking. We step inside wanted to ask someone for help. Passed by 1 employee but was on the phone(understandable). Second person just looked at us when we tried to say hows it going and if we can get some help, he just looked at us and kept on walking. I even said out loud wow no hi how’s it going or acknowledge customers. I even said loudly no wonder this store has low reviews than other locations and he still didn’t even turn back or anything. We’re getting a bit irked but kept just looking ourselves we see another guy and samething, he just looked at us and kept walking and he walked passed us and went to back, guessing break room. Even if he was on lunch or break could have acknowledged us and responded with I’m sorry I’m on break but if I see anyone I will send your way. At this point getting annoyed. We ended up finding the shoes but still needed help with finding them. Then a couple minutes passed by and 2 gentlemen walked out of back and Wilse, I believe was his name stopped his conversation with his fellow employee and greeted and acknowledged us. I knew I still had an attitude when asking for help and explained what happen. He apologized and asked how could he be of help. I was alright now that’s customer service. He helped us find what I wanted and in a timely manner. We received shoes to try on and he even stopped by again to check up on us. The crazy thing is that he was younger than everyone else that we tried asking for help. This gentlemen understands customer service and how to treat customers. Give this guy a raise ! He absolutely deserves it. And no not no cents raises. He deserves way more. Appreciate the help brotha 🤙🏽
Another thing, crazy how they charge 10cents for a bag. I thought that was only...
Read moreMost of the time, we have a positive experience at this location, but the shoe department is usually hit or miss. Today, January 31, 2025 around 4:30-4:40pm, my son and I went to look for some soccer cleats. We placed our order on the iPad, a few minutes later the employee brought them out yelled my name and just placed the shoes on a random shelf. He saw my 9 year old struggling to reach them and proceeded to watch until I stepped into help him. He then said "oh I can get it", well too late!! We are now trying on the three different boxes of shoes, my son approaches him and waits while he speaks to someone else and he ignores him AGAIN and tells him to just put the boxes over there. Well we needed assistance which he seemed to struggle to provide to the people he was speaking with at the time. When I approached he completely ignored me as well. In my opinion, he was rude, completely unhelpful, and honestly frustrating. I understand you have iPads to do most of the humans jobs, but the least they can do is provide some type of quality customer service. He definitely made me want to drive a little further to visit the next closest location. Maybe a customer service training could help him out or something to make your employees be held accountable for the way their customers are...
