Food was good but the service was less than enjoyable. The waitress told us to take our check to the front so they could deduct the San Diego Blood Bank coupon (buy one meal get one free). Kenny looked at the front and back of the coupon confused and got another employee to assist him. The other employee asked Kenny is this a Blood Bank coupon, he said no, she looked at the coupon and said yes it is. She made the deduction and left. Kenny then asks how will you be paying, I said with a card and he immediately says, well I need it. I asked him what the new total was before handing him my card, I wanted to make sure that it was correct. My friend witnessed his rudeness when he abruptly said, well I need the card. There was no need to be rude especially he seemed confused about the coupon and was exceptionally abrupt with me. He didn't even say the new total before asking for payment type. After we left I immediately called to speak with a manager to complain. Sonia unapologetically said, that is surprising Kenny usually gets complements and this is his first complaint she's ever heard about him. Well my friend standing to the side witnessed what happened and made a comment about it as we left. I told the Manager Sonia that her saying this is Kenny's first complaint doesn't negate the fact that it happened. She made excuses and expressed dismay at my call. Very rude all around. This was a holiday friends breakfast and this experience really ruined what was a good breakfast. I was hesitant to use the Blood Bank coupon because of this type of treatment. I really regret leaving a $6.00 tip...
Read moreI wanted to share a quick review of Broken Yolk Cafe (Arena Area San Diego). Marissa took care of us inside the Restaurant serving us a delicious Breakfast with a side of her great smile and positive attitude! What a wonderful way to start the day. However, what truly blew me away was the sense of family and awesome culture the staff had. I know this to be true through my interaction with "Brian" in the parking lot. Brian was probably on his break ... on his own time ... looking to get some needed rest and a little me time. I interrupted him, as I found myself with a dead battery and needed some help. Let me 1st say, I was on holidays and did not have my own stuff like jumper cables in my car and had nobody to call for help. Well, when I engaged Brian, he was willing to help right away! He asked co-workers in the parking lot and then proceeded to ask staff inside the restaurant for help. After a short moment, Brian reappeared with keys and some jumper cables. He was our Angel in San Diego! Thanks to Brian, my little 11 year old boy and I was able to continue our holiday and was able to make it to our planned visit to LegoLand that afternoon. While the dining and food experience was excellent, with a high recommend, I think supporting good people like Brian and Marissa is way more important! Thank you for being awesome people with such great kindness. We will come back soon and will tell other also. Thank...
Read moreThe food was great, but service was terrible. The waitress greeted us in a very welcoming way, she took our orders and put them in. Then she brought our drinks. We didn’t see her after that only when she told my husband and his friend the rules of the restaurant’s challenge they were attempting to do. The kitchen staff brought our food over, she didn’t. After she also didn’t make sure we all had our food, asked if we wanted water, another drink, or refills. I wasn’t served an item that I ordered and she had the nerve to give attitude and said, “Well now I have to let my manager know because I already put it on the check. Maybe if you would’ve let me know beforehand I could’ve fixed it myself. You could’ve said something.” That was the most rude comment I’ve heard received from a waitress especially when it was her fault because she didn’t even once check on our table or tell us the status of our orders. I didn’t even give her issues or complain I just told her I didn’t receive that plate so I didn’t want to be charged for it which is common sense I shouldn’t have to pay for something I didn’t receive. I’ve been a waitress before so I know it’s difficult but checking on your table and maybe not giving attitude for something that was clearly not the customers fault would’ve made this dining experience so much better. Probably will start going to the one in Mission...
