Lashes Make Me Happy — Local services in San Diego

Recently moved to San Diego and was searching for a new lash place. I had a lash lift done by Jasmine. The experience was subpar to say the least. I don’t even know where to start.

First of all, Jasmine is very nice but appeared very nervous (she said it was her 2nd week at this location, but has been doing lashes for 5 years). Her hands shook and she was breathing fast and heavy. As she performed the service on my lashes, she was resting the balls of her hands on my eyeballs. I was literally seeing stars and got a headache. Her movements are abrupt, jagged, and rough; unlike the graceful, light and smooth movements that I’m used to when people are working around my eyes. Her hands were unwashed, or at least, not washed well, as I could smell hints of her lunch from her fingers. I suggest she wear a mask next time as I was very uncomfortable when she was breathing hot air directly into my mouth/nose. She didn’t have bad breath, but the sensation of inhaling hot air that some stranger just breathed out is not the definition of relaxation.

The lash lift result itself is 3 stars. She was unfamiliar with the different available curling rods as I explained the types of curls I’ve had in the past (C curl, J curl, L curl) and which one I preferred. She said she just has “small, medium, and large” rods. She did not take the time to separate each eyelash during the gluing processes, to create a more evenly distributed lash lift. This resulted in large clumps of eyelashes in certain areas with other sparse areas. I had to coach her to leave the perming solution on for less time as I get lash lifts often and don’t want my lashes to burn. I indicated to her in the beginning of the appointment that my last lift was 5 weeks ago hoping it would queue her to leave the perming solution on for less time. I had my doubts, so I asked her what she set her timing for and she said the full 8 minutes. The “medium” rod actually produced the type of curl I wanted, but the results lacked finesse and attention to detail.

All in all, I regretfully say this was the worst lash lift experience I’ve ever had. Jasmine was nice and receptive, but lack the ability to perform a quality lash lift. I’m not sure if she was truthful in saying she has 5 years of lash experience, but if this is the case, and this is what was produced after 5 years of experience, then this is not the...

I've been a loyal customer of Zenia since 2016, and it's truly unfortunate that I find myself writing this review. In all these years, I've never encountered any issues until recently. I had scheduled three appointments that were repeatedly rescheduled, leaving me frustrated. Finally, I showed up for my appointment yesterday, only to discover that no one was there to attend to me.

What's more disappointing is that I had received multiple confirmation messages for these appointments, so I naturally assumed they were confirmed. I waited for over 15 minutes outside the salon with no communication whatsoever about the appointment not happening. It was only the morning after that I found out Zenia had canceled all her appointments due to being "sick."

However, it's disheartening to note that her social media activity didn't reflect this illness, as she was posting on Instagram, enjoying drinks at Javier's just an hour before my scheduled appointment time. This experience has left me questioning the professionalism and integrity of this establishment. I've consistently encountered a lack of stability with the lash techs at this salon. Not only is there a constant rotation of staff, but their prices are also inconsistent. What's even more disappointing is that they often hire inexperienced technicians who end up providing subpar service, leaving you unsatisfied.

This level of unprofessionalism is disheartening, especially considering that their prices are higher than most other places in San Diego. It's frustrating to think that for a similar cost, you could likely find a salon that provides a far...

Since coming here, l've also gotten my lashes done with Ivette and Zenia... both did an amazing job and I was fully satisfied with my lashes. Safe to say, all the lash techs here are skilled and know what they're doing. Ivette did me right with a beautiful hybrid wispy cat eye set... and with Zenia I wanted to tone it down a bit and just got a wispy classic set which I ended up loving more than I expected. We also had a great conversation during my appointment, it was overall a very enjoyable experience. She has a cute little pup that cuddled on top of me while I got my lashes done, he kept me cozy and warm! I'm recently recovering from an injury which includes broken blood vessels in my eye, I notified Zenia of this and she was extra careful to not irritate my eye, which I really appreciated. The beautiful classic set helped me gain some confidence back as I'm a healing process with some bruises around my eye. I will continue to recommend this lash studio to my friends... it's always clean, the techs are friendly, and they always deliver...
