6/18/25 Update. Much like they do with all poor reviews, they respond and ask you to send a follow-up email, which I did on 6/12/25. I did receive a reply on 6/12 saying the leadership will contact me. Today is 6/18 and no one has followed up with me. Their word means nothing at this place. No patient advocacy at this place whatsoever. Their doctors prescribe care, the insurance denies it, and the office leaves you to battle with the insurance instead of using their wealth of knowledge and experience to advocate on your behalf.
Story #1- My very first experience was good with the dermatologist. The doctor prescribed a medication that she had to fight the insurance for. It was approved and it worked well. It was a great first experience. However, when I went to get the prescription renewed from the (different) doctor, the insurance (UHC) of course denies it, but not one person from the office cared to advocate for me. They just put it on me to fight the insurance company and I never received my medication.
Story #2- I had a preventative colonoscopy scheduled for months. The office calls me the week before to tell me that they scheduled the procedure at a facility that was out of network from my insurance even though my network (UCSD) has a facility. Then, they the put the responsibility of calling the insurance company on me to correct their oversight even though I have no experience with this kind of work. I am nearly 50 years old and besides my last 2.5 years with this office, have never had an issue with patient care and advocacy during my entire life. This office just serves to do the minimum for you so I suggest staying away and find a team that will fight for your care and your health.
Story #3- Not as impactful, but just more of the same. I had my routine physical scheduled, which included blood work so I did my daily fast. I arrived on time for my appointment, which was completed 10 minutes before the in-office lab closed. Rather than get my labs done in that moment, they have me reschedule, even though they were. I can only assume that this was a matter of convenience for the employees. In a case like this, many patients will never return and just end up not getting the care and service they needed. If you go in for a physical, you should be able to get a complete level of service in that single appointment.
I recommend avoiding this team. In my experience, the office only has one person who truly works to serve their patients so your odds are against you. I've been there four times and would only consider 1 of my visits a successful experience primarily due to their inability to work with the insurance on your behalf. It's like the system is designed to keep you locked out...
Read moreShuang Lin is very unprofessional and negligent doctor, all she cares about is making money and not the patient concerns. On my way to my visit I called to say I might be a little late since I was stuck in traffic, it ended on being that I was not late at all I made it on time. After checking in had to wait forever to see the doctor which is normal, however while I am telling her about my concerns, she said we just have to address one thing today and we need to schedule another visit for other day since I was late (which I wasn’t) she did not have enough time. Next thing, she says we require to do a hepatitis test, which I absolutely was not interested in, I tell her as long as that’s something the insurance would cover, because I do not want to pay for it, she says it will be. She prints the visit review saying I expressed concern for hepatitis and required a test, which btw the insurance did not cover. In addition to this, she tells me go to the lab to do the test, I tell her I am not fasting is that ok? She goes yeah no problem, even before having my blood taken I asked again, both her and the technician say that does not affect these tests, few days later the nurse sends me an email saying the doctor wants to repeat the labs because she thinks since I was not fasting the results came back abnormal. I had already gotten a $500 bill that my insurance did not approve and asked her who would pay for it since I asked multiple times if not being fasting would be an issue, never got an answer from anyone. Called the clinic multiple times none can help you with billing, have been calling the billing number almost every day for a month they put you on whole forever and never pick up. Now I need to go see a professional doctor at a serious clinic and lost my $500 and neither the clinic or the doctor ever got back to me about this.
If you can avoid at all cost go to a different doctor and a...
Read moreTerrible experience. I used the Scripps app to be on the wait-list using the "on the way" function. It said I would be seen at 11:48 and if I was not there by 12:15pm I would go to the back of the line. It also said I was FIRST IN LINE. I arrived early, around 11:35am. A walk-in came in after me and she was seen before me. Multiple people went ahead of me so at 12:05pm, I'm still not seen and asked how much longer. They told me 25 minutes. So I left and took a walk. I come back and ask what is the update? And they tell me "just give us 5 to 10 more minutes." Basically, so I would go back to my seat. I give them 15 minutes and ask again, and the front desk person has to go back and talk to the nurse. She comes back and says it will be 20 more minutes. What in the actual heck?!!! I don't have time to sit around when they don't even know how to manage their patient load. The lady at the front told me the system lets them know that I'm here, but is not an actual appointment. Ok, then why do I keep getting automated messages saying you are scheduled to be seen at a specific time?
Of course I didn't stay. I have a life and I have to work. I will never go back there. Completely unprofessional. I understand waiting and I have waited before but don't tell me "give us 5-10 minutes" and then come back and tell me another 20 minutes for a total of an hour. The whole part of the "on the way" feature is to get you on the wait-list and give you a realistic timeframe of when you will be seen so you can AVOID WAITING. Need better trained employees and better customer service overall.
They emailed me telling me someone would follow up AND THEY NEVER DID. Even after multiple emails they did not call me back and ask me any questions or try to resolve the issue or even learn about the issue. And this was their patient feedback department! I would not recommend...
