We booked a 10 day stay at The Leo in Downtown San Diego and I thought I'd compile a list of information that may be useful. This is our 2nd time booking with Sonder. Pros - quiet inside the apartment, we couldn't hear anyone through the walls and the glass sliding door for the balcony did a good job of blocking the sounds of traffic.
-Close to the airport and half a block from public transportation. Also within 1-2 miles of Balboa Park and SD Harbor.
-Very easy/fast to get ahold of customer service.
Across the street from a grocery store.
-Kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Don't expect to have the tools for a gourmet meal but we cooked our meals every day without issue and it was nice to have a dishwasher
-Supplies provided (dishwasher soap, laundry soap, paper towels, garbage bags, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, tissues, hairdryer, TP, hand soap, aluminum foil, coffee, salt/pepper, sugar, broom, extra blankets and pillows, etc.)
-We liked being able to cast to the TV to watch channels that we subscribe to.
-Loved that it's an apartment with a bedroom separate from the living room since my husband and I have different sleeping schedules.
-Rooftop terrace is nice and has a gas grill for use.
-We reserved an apartment that came with a reserved parking spot and I highly recommend doing this if you are renting a car. There is metered parking around the building but I don't recommend going that route.
-Excellent communication with Sonder. Read their instructions carefully and you'll be all good to go.
-Building and reserved parking is secured and we felt entirely safe.
Cons - For those that it might matter to, there is some building construction going on in the neighborhood, however this did not disturb us frequently.
-Cleaning is not included during your stay, no matter how many days you stay. Extra $67+ per requested cleaning.
-The bedroom didn't have blackout curtains and was generally filled with light due to street lamps. I'd recommend bringing a sleeping mask.
-I'd recommend bringing slippers or sliders, the floor can get dirty fast and there isn't a mop.
-Late check out isn't always available and when it is, costs $25
-I'd give it a 7.5/10 for being clean. It's a pretty big apartment and it was cleaned okay but the floors hadn't been mopped, glass doors weren't cleaned, cabinets weren't wiped down, etc. All in all, I care most about linens and the bathroom which were immaculate.
I hope that this information helps! We'd recommend and stay at this apartment again in we were...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with my stay here (booked directly from their website) as a vacation rental for 3 nights.
To begin, the unit we were in had A/C problems. We went without A/C for one hot night but it was generous of them to refund us that night. The next morning, the A/C technicians came out to work on it. We agreed to allow them in the unit without us, so we greeted them and then went to get lunch and explore. When we came back several hours later.. they had left the deadbold holding the door to the apartment open. Literally anyone could have went in, even though there is a code for the main building, there were some extremely questionable individuals in and around the apartment. Luckily we didn’t have anything of value in the apartment, but it made me feel pretty unsafe that my door was just wide open for hours.
As in any big city, there is always a homelessness crisis. I noticed that the area this apartment building is just being monitored less by the local police.. when it definitely should be. Everyday walking out to my car there was harassment, and at night I guess it gets worse and that’s when you hear a lot of sirens/screaming/excessive noise.
There was a lot of garbage in and around the apartment complex as well.
A few good things to note - they did allow us to check in about 2 hours early since my flight early. My first code wasn’t working to get in, so one of the managers on site was very friendly and met us at the door and helped up get it fixed. The balcony was very large on our unit and it was nice. They provide all of the kitchen supplies you could possibly need.
I hope this review reaches the right person and management and maybe we can chat due to er about what I...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about Sonder in general but I truly enjoyed my stay at the Leo.
While it is surrounded by homeless people in tents, I had no incidents with any of them. Perhaps that isn't always the case, but generally speaking, they were kind and kept to themselves.
I was originally booked at the cottages in little italy. When I showed to this location, there was a man outside the cottages that was following me/harassing me and made me feel unsafe. I called the customer service team at Sonder and they wasted no time in moving me to the Leo to make me feel more comfortable and safe. I love that they prioritized my safety over profits (the Leo is pricier if I'm not mistaken) and the customer service person (Ariel) was so kind and compassionate.
The leo is a great, quiet space that isn't too far from the rest of the city. The full kitchen is amazing and the rooftop has a pretty decent view! Check in was easy and the place was very cozy.
My only complaint is the there is a fair amount of dirt/grime between the cabinets and the fridge. Which is a small thing considering everything else looked immaculate!
This is my second stay with Sonder.(first was in Arizona) I would definitely stay with them again in this or...
