There's a lot of great things going on here in this building. Downstairs has the photo center where you can develop and print your own film or digital files and take classes. The director there is misguided individual who has a very over-inflated idea of his self worth and who has certainly misunderstood what his role is and what the community wants but if you ignore him the space has a lot to offer. Thankfully he stays in his office most of the time and does almost nothing except "curate" shows and use up the city staff hours Framing and hanging shows instead of making the place great for working photographers and people interested in learning about photography. The photo center is one of the largest public dark rooms in the country and an important resource to the community. It's a real shame that the city staff can't find a way to make that working area the best ever instead of focusing on gallery shows. The upstairs has dance rooms, yoga, a recording studio, crafts activities, and arts activities and many such after school activities for kids and summer programs for kids, but also things to do for adults.
