Sol Spa was a great experience in many ways - first all the good - Nick was an amazing masseuse, I had a great reflexology massage with him, very thorough and attentive - just the right pressure. Perfect! There were lots of amenitites - dry Sauna, meditation room, jacuzzi. Robes and lockers, etc. So there was plenty of relax options. And huge plus for pool side food service - that was something we have not had at any other spa, and truly stood out, with an amazing server. THANK YOU! Also, on booking I was told locals get 20% off on Sundays...Huzzah! A star got knocked off, though, because of a slightly abrupt moment at check in, when as my card was being run for the service, the nice lady at the desk said oh, and I put the Automatic 20% gratuity on. I thought, hum...automatic 20% gratuity really isn't a gratuity, is it? it's really just another charge, kind of like the ticket master "convenience fee" charges you get which are not really convenient. Not mentioned on the phone during my booking. She did try to recover, saying the local discount made up for it, but then, it didn't feel like a discount. So keep that in mind. Truly, I would have tipped more than that. I went back and looked at my rez, and sure enough, at the VERY bottom, it says, an automatic 20% will be added. Well heck guys, just charge more then, please? Another thing, the decor was pretty spartan. Maybe a style thing, but my friend and I have been to most spas in the area, posh and not posh, and a few water features or murals, and paint touch up could have gone a long way. But overall, the amenities and lovely staff won us over, and we will go back-knowing about the 20%...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited Sol Spa for a hot stone massage, a therapy I've regularly enjoyed at various spas. I appreciate the serene atmosphere and professional approach at Sol Spa, but I'd like to share some feedback on my recent experience to help enhance your services.
Firstly, I've usually experienced hot stone massages where the stones are extensively used throughout the session. They're often positioned along my back to alleviate inflammation before moving on to the lower body. In my session at Sol Spa, the stones were only used briefly, for what felt like five minutes, which was a bit disappointing. The primary reason I opt for this type of massage is for the unique relief and relaxation that the stones provide, and I felt this element was underutilized.
Additionally, the masseuse's (I believe it was Nick?) hands felt somewhat calloused, leading to a bit of discomfort / distraction during the massage. While I understand that this can be occupational, perhaps some measures could be considered to ensure a smoother experience for clients.
In terms of pricing, considering the overall experience and my expectations based on the cost, I didn't feel completely satisfied. I believe that for the price charged, the use of hot stones and the overall quality of the massage could be enhanced.
I wanted to share this feedback constructively, hoping it can contribute to your continuous efforts to provide excellent services. Your spa has a wonderful ambiance, and I believe these adjustments could greatly improve the experience for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI received a extraordinary treatment from Corinna. The "before and after" difference of the shape and openness of my face was remarkable, in light of the fact it was a single treatment with the very lightest and nuanced of touch. I've received facials and esthetician treatments for over 4 decades (from my early teens w acne, til now in the menopause ;-) .. I'm always on the lookout for new methods that are non-invasive, yet with structure and/or tone results. I received a treatment from Corinna that was entirely new to me: a Split Massage aka Corrective Facial. The entire treatment process was profoundly relaxing. Almost like falling into a deep meditative trance. The quality of touch was similar to a craniosacral session - - extremely nuanced, delicate and light. However, it also felt deliberate and specific -- with respect to the muscles and structure of my face responding. Even through the work done was only for my face, my whole body felt more integrated and the weight of day-to-day stress lifted and melted away. There was a gorgeous line of products she used -- I cannot recall the name, but my skin loved it all. I would definitely have this treatment again (regularly if I lived in SLO!). My understanding is the results are most dramatic with multiple sessions... which, makes total sense. And as part of my visit to the spa, I was also able to use the sauna and the meditation room. An oasis of true transformation, relaxation and...
