Absolute worst and untimely service, EVER! I place a print order through Canva on Monday. Never got any type of confirmation saying Staples received it, is working on it, nothing. I call tuesday to confirm it was received. The man on the phone said they’re extremely short staffed and couldn’t confirm what printing had received (totally understandable) and asked that I call the next day. He was very kind… I wish I got his name to exclude him from this review. I called on wednesday… I get a woman, whose name I believe is Debra or Brenda (found that out from the supervisor because she didn’t say her name when answering the phone). I tell her VERBATIM “I’m calling to confirm my order was received on your end.” A reasonable check in, right? Considering I placed the order through a third party…. She says “name” … I tell her… She gets back on the phone and immediately goes into “it’s not supposed to be done until tomorrow.” I said, “oh that’s fine, I just wanted to confirm it was received by you all as I never got any type of confirmation”… she immediately gets an attitude and starts going on and on about things irrelevant to my request and ends with “I have over 50 orders before yours so you’ll have to wait til I get to it.” As if I was asking her to speed it up or somehow make mine a priority… I would never! Then says “but i might be able to get it done today”…. i go in today (Thursday) at 3pm… the man says “Oh, it won’t be done until tonight.” I would have called but the way I was previously treated on the phone I opted out of that type of interaction… now, I’ve wasted gas. Read moreI have got to give a huge shoutout to Esteban at the San Ramon Staples. He is usually there just on weekends, but every single time I have come in and he is working, the service has been on another level. Honestly, if I only come shopping here on weekends, it is because I know Esteban will be around to help. On my last visit, I was trying to figure out what supplies to grab for a project and was kind of lost. Esteban did not just tell me what aisle to look in; he actually walked with me, asked me questions to understand what I really needed, and laid out different options. He explained everything clearly, gave me honest recommendations, and made sure I did not waste money on things that would not work. That kind of customer care is rare these days, and it made a big difference.
What I appreciate the most is that he treats customers with respect and patience, no matter how small or big the request is. He goes above and beyond without ever making you feel like you are bothering him. That is not something you can train; that is natural leadership.
Truthfully, Esteban shows every quality you would want in a manager. The way he carries himself, how he helps customers, and how he represents the store; it is clear he takes pride in what he does. If management is paying attention, this is the type of employee you hold on to, invest in, and promote. And if he is not moved into management right away, then he absolutely deserves a raise for the way he takes care of people and keeps customers like me coming back. I will keep on...

But my actual experience could not have been more different. I came in looking for a couple of things for my home office; some ink for my printer and a few office supplies. Kevin was right there at the front and asked if I needed help finding anything. I told him what I was looking for, and instead of just pointing me in a direction, he actually walked with me, made sure I got the right printer cartridges for my model, and even showed me a couple of deals I had not noticed. While we were checking out, he asked if I was part of the Staples Rewards program. I was not, so he explained how it worked in simple terms, no pushy sales pitch, just letting me know it would save me money. He signed me up right there, and sure enough, I got a discount on my purchase and now I will get rewards every time I shop. Honestly, I wish more stores did that. Kevin was friendly, patient, and seemed to really care about making sure I left happy. I know people can have different experiences, but for me, it was nothing but positive.
