I recently join the community at Bloom South Coast and it's been a really great experience so far. I had a lot of questions and the staff are very responsive to inquiries by both email and phone.
Lauri in particular was especially helpful and knowledgeable. By talking with Lauri, she helped me decide whether a studio or a one-bedroom apartment would be a better fit for my particular needs. After I signed my lease, she helped make my move as easy as possible by sharing tips on where best to park my vehicle make moving easier. She also helped me get familiar with the layout of the complex, walking me through the buildings again, as I was still getting oriented. She is simultaneously professional and relaxed so she puts you at ease.
I also interacted with Emilie via email and once in person and both she and Lauri helped make sure my application documents and lease documents were in order.
The apartment complex is new so it's lovely and I'm excited to live here.
Updated review (2025-7-19): I am writing to update my review as I now have had more time at Bloom.
Pros:
The maintenance staff here is excellent. They're thoughtful and kind and there is an on-call number for emergencies. Clemente and Enrique have been here as long as I've lived here and they are so helpful, I absolutely adore them. They always wear booties in my apartment, which I appreciate.
Although there appears to be a medium amount of turnover, the staff has always been consistently great. Right now the manager is Steve and the staff are Dhruv, Alex, and Roxana. They occasionally set up activities for everyone in the building such as a taco nights. They help me regularly with my mail. I have great conversations with them and love getting to know them. (Dhruv is a really talented artist!)
I just think this building and apartment is aesthetically pleasing. The color scheme inside, the decor--everything is just very pretty. They have pretty succulents out front and some neon pothos; it's all very nice.
Cons:
One thing that I don't like are the parcel locker systems. I just don't think it's safe for women living alone to have their information in some corporate database letting all the employees know that they live alone and when they'll be in and out of the apartment. However, I will say the staff at Bloom have accommodated my concern by helping me retrieve my mail without using the parcel lockers. And so this "con" is listed for informational purposes, but not a big deal as the staff help me avoid those lockers.
I'm increasingly aware of a potential pest problem brewing as I am starting to see dead bugs/cockroaches in the garage. Luckily, that has not extended to the living spaces (as far as I'm aware). I have gotten ants in my apartment every summer and I've invested a LOT of time covering up various little cracks/corners of my apartment to keep them out. I try to stay hyper-vigilant about cleaning and taking out the trash daily.
Overall: Currently, the pros easily outweigh the cons. I reaffirm my 5-star review particularly because of the excellent team running the show and because my own personal space/apartment has had no issues. And, after diligently closing off points of entry for ants every summer, my experience living here has gotten better every year. I've re-signed my lease to live here...
Read moreA few months ago, several units in this building were sold to a third-party short-term rental company (I was told my the staff) which has drastically changed the atmosphere here. Additionally, many other residents are illegally renting out their units on platforms like Airbnb, despite this being prohibited in our lease agreements. The influx of disruptive, non-resident guests has turned what was once a luxury apartment into something more akin to a transient hotel. These temporary occupants are often loud, disrespectful, and inconsiderate, bringing large groups of 6-10 people to the small pool area leaving no seats for the actual residents, where they engage in inappropriate activities such as spiking a beach volleyball and diving into the shallow pool splashing the residents trying to relax. If you're considering leasing here, be aware that the presence of these short-term renters, both legal and illegal, has significantly diminished the quality of living.
I was one of the first residents to move into this building when it opened, and while the units themselves are modern and well-designed, and my approved neighbors are generally decent, respectful people, the management situation has also deteriorated over time.
During my first few months here, I experienced a severe ant infestation--thousands of ants, even in my bed. The situation was so severe that I had to be put in a hotel for two days while exterminators treated my apartment, a process that had to be repeated six times before the issue was finally resolved. I was negotiating with the original management team for a free month of rent due to this inconvenience, which seemed reasonable given that I was paying $3,000 a month for a brand-new building.
Unfortunately, after a change in management, the new staff handled the situation poorly. They incorrectly claimed that I had already been compensated, when in reality, I was simply reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses I incurred for the hotel stay due to my apartment being uninhabitable. This showed a troubling lack of diligence and care in understanding tenants' concerns. In the end, the new management offered a much less favorable resolution than what the original team had proposed.
Additionally, I have raised concerns with the leasing staff twice about the disruptive nature of the short-term renters, but they have shown little interest in addressing the issue. Despite my complaints, I have never received any follow-up. The overall experience no longer aligns with the expectations of a luxury...
Read moreIf you value your safety and peace of mind, I urge you to reconsider moving into this apartment complex that is a hotbed for unchecked trespassing and criminal activity. My experience here has been marked by a series of disturbing security breaches that the management, led by Zara, is neither capable of nor interested in resolving.
Recently, my car was vandalized in what should have been a secure parking garage—keyed from front to back, with concrete evidence of attempted forced entry. This event is not an anomaly but part of a troubling pattern of criminal activity within the complex. Just a few weeks prior, I personally witnessed a suspicious individual lurking in the garage late at night. Shortly after spotting him, a car alarm went off, and I discovered another vehicle with its window open, an apparent theft.
The management's response to these incidents has been shockingly apathetic. When I reported the vandalism, Zara, the manager, offered no solution other than to file a police report. She vehemently dismissed the necessity of installing security cameras, claiming it was a "big project" and unjustifiably stating that none of her previous workplaces included cameras in garages—a clear indication of no forthcoming action on this matter. Her nonchalance extended to our discussion about enhancing security measures. Vaguely, she mentioned a switch in patrol services based on unspecified "research," but failed to detail any expected improvements. Alarmingly, she admitted the current security patrol is notoriously unreliable in responding to residents' emergency calls, a glaring flaw that directly threatens our safety!
Adding to the unsafe environment is the high volume of traffic from Airbnb and short-term rentals which significantly compromises building security. If these transient visitors can freely access areas like our garage the rest of the building: common spaces, mail areas, pool, and most importantly, your UNIT are just as vulnerable.
The management team led by Zara is completely inept at addressing these severe issues. They have shown a blatant disregard for the wellbeing and security of their tenants, making it abundantly clear that resident safety is not a priority. Before deciding to move here, please consider these warnings. This warning is not merely about potential inconveniences—it concerns your fundamental safety and that of...
