Sushi Hanashi — Restaurant in Santa Monica

Hi my name is Andre I am a very humble man that currently lives in Santa Monica as a resident I am not homeless and I currently have a thyroid condition meaning I cannot eat certain foods and being around food is my choice but as crazy as it sounds it helps me not wanna eat and loose weight but if I do want to eat I earn to a living to buy my own food and not steal food and say all that to say that I also currently work 12 hr uber eats shifts and on April 11 2025 around 7 pm or so l received a order from this location. I want to also add that I am 5'11 300 lbs and here's the kicker that makes me public enemy number one and a trouble maker number one, " I am black"! So when I enter the restaurant I show who looks to be the owner and or the owners daughter and I show him my order on the phone then he proceeds to take a plate of food to someone's table but when he comes back to where I was after he says excuse me really loud as if he couldn't get back pass me because I'm 800 lbs he then asks me was I there for a order pick up with a attitude so l show him my phone again then he yells, I can't see that! So l extend my arm more and the look on his face was like you stupid ass wanna be smart nigger so before the woman who was next to him handed me the food they had to make sure my big black self wasn’t gonna steal the food so she’s makes sure she embarrasses me by saying out loud, “ can you confirm the order” like I’m not a delivery driver who can buy his own food she’s saying it like I might steal the food and when I was handed the order I said I don't know why you have a problem with black people I did nothing wrong to any of you and then she slightly tried to snatch the order back out my hand but let me walk out because they wanted to give me a thumbs down and block me from coming back not knowing that I never would have taken a order from them again anyway because there racist and only cater to not black people so I guess I'm suppose to cry because they gave me a thumbs down after I was the one who was treated like the scum of the earth which means in order to not get a thumbs down I was suppose to take the disrespect when all I'm doing is trying to support me and my daughter and I'm happy they blocked me from getting orders here because they will never treat there own race or any white people this way and I just wanted to say god bless you for you know not...

Service is pretty good except for the beginning because they don't pay attention to you. The beef teriyaki isn't really how japanese teriyaki tastes. Teriyaki is supposed to be grilled not boiled so, the meat is not tough. The rice was warm and hard. It's like the rice came out of the microwave. The tempura was okay, but the daikon or whatever vegetavle it was- was not good. The tempura sauce was from the bottle. They have so much expensive sake on the wall but they cannot make a decent tempura sauce. The meal was cold. My family's food was cold when it got to the table. Chicken and or any meat is supposed to be hot when it gets to the table but this places serves it just warm then it will soon turn cold. The salad was ok, but it could have been executes better than what we got. The sushi was not that bad but could be better, but the kitchen plates were bad. For the people in the reviews who said this is authentic japanese food is absolutely wrong. This IS not japanese food- not even close. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very different. It feels like a club with a stports bar thing. Not really a place to have kids walking aroynd because of the electronic music blasting and one of the sushi chefs, if that's you may call them, singing. I did not know i went to a karaoke bar. No one is really watching tv because they are not playing the prime games of the night. Finally the check was way more than what we would have thought. I could understand because of the three sushi rolls we had, but really with the price of the entrees...

Hello, i was a student at samo nearby and had constant issues with the servers questioning our budget capability when we would ask for extra sauces (which trust 1$ doesn't hurt anyone's pockets lol) They also recently took out 3$ for a tip that i never authorized due to poor attitude and service. I love to tip, but my experience wasn't considerably tip worthy so me and my friends left peacefully and thankfully for our amazing meal. Two days later we found out they took 3$ out of our accounts for their tip. Last time i checked that's illegal to take money out of someone's account days after a transaction we ALREADY paid for. I called and the receptionist whom i believe was the same server as i recognized her voice (and attitude) but she decided to hang up after saying she "didn't remember who i was" i tried to communicate with her about the petty 3$ and my identity and even gave her my full name, there transaction i'd, and when and were the transaction took place. she hanged up in my face (which was pretty funny so if you need a comedic environment while munching on sushi this place is for YOU😭). Good food, great cooks, terrible servers. I wish...
