Donut King — Restaurant in Santa Monica

Now THIS place knows how to make donuts. And they're so under the radar, I don't get it! I've lived here for years and I think this place makes the best donuts in town, if not the best in many surrounding towns. Many people go up to DK's but I'll actually take the extra 3 minute drive to go over here instead for their donuts. Whoever's back there know what they're doing. They're fluffy, perfectly sweet, and never taste stale. And most of them are HUGE. I've never had a donut here I didn't like. You can other things here and they make those better than DK's as well (sorry DK), so if there's this insane line over there, come over here to Donut King and get some quality donuts, cinnamon rolls, chocolate croissants (which they make a great one), bear claws, etc. You will not be...

Ten stars, actually. This is the only place in Santa Monica that gives me nostalgia after living here for 25 years. The small shop is as cosy and they have added wheelchair accessible seating. Prices here have only gone up as much as inflation, where else can I get a great breakfast sandwich for under $10? A 24 oz iced fruit drink for under $12?

We have been here with my young daughter a few times on Saturday mornings. Most of the tables were dirty. Each time we order a cream cheese bagel for my daughter: it takes too long for them to prepare it. Last time they even forgot our order - preparing all the after orders who came after us. I can't wait to get out of this place every time. The donuts taste ok, I would say average.
