Mermaid Hair Extensions — Local services in Seattle

I would give my experience a -2 star for the attitude I was given by the staff if I could. Came here to get my feather light extensions removed, I got them done in Vietnam and they’re meant for Asian hair types it’s the most popular extension done there, not so popular in the U.S which I understand. But in my desperate needs to get them removed professionally I was recommended by a colleague to come here since they specialize in extensions.

They told me they’ve never seen or work with these types of extensions before and criticize the work that was done on my hair, i personally love the work I had gotten but simply needed them removed because they were in for 6 months.

The staff then cut off my extensions using scissors which makes my extensions not reusable anymore. My extensions were tied in a knot to my hair and wrapped with a thread. The correct way to remove them were to cut the thread holding my extensions using a razor blade and hair together leaving my hair and extensions tip (the tip of my extensions has a loop that my hair loops thru and tied in a easy to release knot) intact for reusable purposes.

She then cut multiple extensions off and told me I have to get the knot and left over thread off by myself. If I could I wouldn’t have been sitting there. The lack of knowledge or simple effort to spare a few minutes of research to correctly proceed with my service is unprofessional. Meanwhile the entire service she had a major attitude and a stank facial expression. The girl simply could’ve refuse my service if she wasn’t confident in it. But she proceeded. I was extremely uncomfortable at this point and showed her videos of removal since she’s already cutting off my hair. The entire appointment she proceeded to rip out my hair and extensions quite aggressively and pulling on it a lot.

Then told me “I’m never doing this again” (twice) “I was about to say maybe you should’ve gone back to Vietnam to get them out”.

As a service provider in the beauty industry myself. This had to be the absolute worst service and treatment I have ever experience in my life. trust and believe I’ve gotten plenty of services done. And yes girl if only I can take time off buy a $1500 ticket back to Vietnam and get these done again. I would’ve, the services I got over there were top tier and they would’ve NEVER spoken to me and treated me this way.

I had a few glances at the girl sitting next to me and her extensions were so poorly done not blended at all and she didn’t seem so happy with her service either she even came back to ask them to finish styling it. There were only 2 employees but they were doubled booked left and right jumping from customers to customers having people wait around in the middle of their appointment.

You’re better off going to a studio base or individual professional service provider than...

They had to cancel my first appointment due to a snow storm dumping about 6 to 12 inches of snow on the ground which is understandable. They called and texted and emailed me to make sure I was aware of the cancelation and booked me a new appointment. The night before my new appointment we got a light dusting of snow overnight, by morning roads and sidewalks were clear. I left for my appointment, I had no trouble on the roads, even got there about 10 minutes early, but no one was at the salon. I checked my phone no texts canceling my appointment, I had received no calls from them. I tried calling them, left a message, tried texting them, no response. I started looking at my email while I waited outside and find am email from them that was sent out just two hours before my appointment telling me they had to close due to the snow that I had no trouble in, and that they had to cancel my appointment again! No offers to rebook, no texts, no phone call, just a simple last minute email that I didn't even see till after I was already there! The roads look pretty clear to me. I needed to get this done over the holiday break, now I don't know when I'll be able to get in for an appointment! Lousy customer service with a second cancelation!

I was eventually able to get in for the consultation and get my extensions in without any further problems. Their stylists are amazing and do a phenomenal job! Appointment booking might be a bit of a problem, I wish they had better weekend hours, but they do...

Very rude staff. I felt like I was with real life Mean Girls. My stylist was incompetent and extremely rude while he gossip in front of me with the other rude staff every time I went there. My wishes were not met and my stylist seemed like he did not know how to cut my real hair and my extensions in order to attempt to make them blend. My stylist was not helpful about color recommendations nor did he do what I requested after zero input from him. I finally requested a different stylist but I still got seated directly next to his station. It was uncomfortable for me. I was Deliberately snubbed by Cam even though he knew who I was and he had been tipped very well every other time he did my hair. I've been getting hair extensions for over 20 years now. When Cam my hair he did not do it to my specifications at any time. The technique they use to attach their hair is not compatable with my fine hair. They rigidly refused to use any other method of installation.

So that's all the BAD here's the GOOD things about this place:

The beautiful location and interior design. However parking free or paid is always a pain in the butt and they have no dedicated client parking

Although incompetent, the staff very physically attractive

The quality of the human hair extensions they use is tip top. Stays silky and doesn't tangle for quite a while. Unfortunately Best method of attaching hair extensions was never ever explored with me and mine all mostly fell out within 3-4 weeks weeks...
