I really appreciate having a diversity of people, housing and opportunities in my neighborhood. I appreciate that it is a good fit for a lot of people, even if it’s not perfect (what is?). I also appreciate that they are always staffed not only for safety but also a merely convenient reason: when I donate leftovers from places I work, I often come by at odd hours and they can easily accept it for the next meal, keeping it refrigerated and such. While I hope it will eventually go away because the fundamental problems are solved, I REALLY hope it doesn’t get replaced by some other structure that won’t be a transitional support.
