A skilled jeweler and an extraordinary gentleman! My wife’s 93 year old Mom needed to have her gold wedding ring , her diamond engagement ring , and a three diamond anniversary ring resized . We were looking for a jeweler who did repairs on the premises and were fortunate to discover ‘88 Trusted Jewelry Repair on Seminole Blvd. We spoke to the jeweler Lau Nguyen on the phone about Mom’s rings . He was very cordial , answered all our questions, and gave us a very reasonable estimate . Two weeks ago we took Mom and her rings to Lau’s store located in a small shopping strip where you have to ring the door bell to gain admission. Please don’t be put off by the humble exterior there is a pro inside . Mr Nguyen has over 30 years of experience. Before moving to his present location he owned a jewelry store in the former Seminole Mall for 20 years. Lau was very kind and treated Mom with great respect First he examined the rings to see if they were suitable for resizing. He checked that the diamond settings were in satisfactory condition and design that would allow the rings to be heated and manipulated without damaging them . Although Mom wears the wedding ring and engagement ring on the same finger Lau explained that the wedding band was both thicker and wider than the engagement ring and had to be made a size larger in order to slide it on over her enlarged knuckle. Mom wears the anniversary ring on her right ring finger so all three rings had to be different sizes. Mr Nguyen did the repairs while we waited . His jewelry work bench and equipment are situated right behind the display counter and we were able to observe the entire process. There were comfortable chairs available for Mom to sit in. Several other customers came in while we waited. The work itself took him about an hour and a half . The rings fit perfectly and look beautiful. They are perfectly round and you would never know that anything had been done to them. The location of the sizing seams were not detectable. Mom was thrilled to be able to wear her rings. I went to '88 Trusted Jewelry because they were close. My wife's wedding ring had the diamond pop out and FORTUNATELY, our son found it by stepping on it barefooted! Anyway, Lau immediately made me feel like I made the right choice in seeing him as he thoroughly explained what happened to the ring over the last 25 years (that the 6 "prongs" had worn down and needed to be built back up to properly secure the diamond), showed my where it had weakened, and what need to be done to repair it properly so I that I don't lose it again. He told me what the price would be and it seemed very reasonable. He even told me what he thought the increased valued of the ring is today and how he would make it just as good as new. Now I took this in as a walk in (on a Saturday) and since he knew how how it was my wife's birthday that day, he did the whole job in less than two hours. Not only was it fixed, but it looked BRAND NEW as he also buffed and polished it - he went above and beyond what I expected. The shop is super clean and secure but also very comfortable like a family business and not just a "company" with employees. I could tell right away how much he cares. I could go on and on but just trust me and trust Lau, as we are lucky to have him in our area....

Came in today to get two 18k pieces of jewelry repaired, after several other patched it and only lasted a day. These 2 peices are not only costly, but most importantly sentimental as they have been in the family 3 decades. I couldn't resist the first thing I notice is how professional Mr. Lau is towards me explaining ehats needed, what happened and also noticed the uptight clean environment i was in. Not only was he able to match the 18k weld and a professional finish. where it was unable to locate where the weld was. I rate this gentleman more than I would a high-end watch/ jewelry repair that you expect top quality results but instead the opposite. Mr. Lau not only was friendly and professional, he also did an amazing job at at reasonable price. I would definitely recommend to my family and close friends, because the quality of repair and 18k match with no indication where it happened is incredible.
