The āOn The Beachā store, in South Padre Island is a genuine modern day "MOM and POP." Owner Glen McKinlay goes out of his way to make things right in a sticky, unfortunate situation. My Faith is Restored in "On The Beachā on South Padre Island. Recently our special needs son purchased a "used" surfboard for $350 with his own money. Unfortunately, he only used the board 1.5 times before the surfboard broke. He used the board the day we purchased it, and a week later on the second day while he was using the board it broke nearly in half at the top 1/3 of the surfboard. Glen took the time to hear our concerns, worked with us to find a reasonable solution, and deal with the broken surfboard. As the owner of the "On The Beach" store he chose to "make things right." He wanted to use it to buy me shoes, since that was the only option they gave him. But when my dad briefly left the store, one of the girls āhelpingā me find a pair of shoes spoke badly of my father right to my face, on Fatherās Day by the way lol.
After that I had no interest whatsoever in buying anything. Due to that incident, he requested his money back instead of using the store credit, and they refused because the shoes were āhalf off.ā How was it his fault that they put womenās size of shoes in his bag for him, when those were not the shoes he tried on or authorized the charge of?
That was clearly a mistake that the storeās employees were full responsible for. The store even called the owner and she refused to give him his money back.
They didnāt even apologize for the unnecessary, hurtful comments they made to me or for making me uncomfortable. What happened to āthe customerās always rightā and since when is it a sales tactic to bash customerās family...
