El chilango taqueria — Restaurant in South Padre Island

well let's just say we didn't even get a chance to try out the food. not good from the beginning. no ac, HOT. you have to stand in line to order (issue with this is we on vacation and we wanted to go to a place for a sit down breakfast, relax, get service.) we ordered water and they literally gave me two cups of tap water, no ice. after waiting for a while we hadn't gotten our food, noticed group of 6 people and another group of four get their food before us and they weren't in line right after us. they came in a little after. so we decided to just leave, (again we on vacation we had things to do) and we only ordered three tacos. the worst part is they refused us a refund. the lady kept denying the refund. my husband tried to work with her as she kept saying they couldn't give a refund cause the food was already made, but their was no food. this kept happening over and over and then when they would bring an order it wasnt the right one. my husband politely kept saying we just wanted a refund but she still kept insisting the food is ready. then she would say well we can bag it for you to go. my husband told her no we wanted to sit down and eat, but even then , the food was still not ready even if we had decided to take. my husband who is very PATIENT and tried to work with them had enough. and told her nicely but more firmly that he was done, explaining to her he just wants his refund. FINALLY, after much deliberation and alot of time, we got our refund. what a way to start our morning, and we now had to waist more time to go find somewhere else to eat. I know everyone has their opinion about things but If u know my husband he doesnt complain about things, he usually would have just walked away not even asked for a refund. so when he does , which again is rare. then u know the service...

Ok stopped here because it was the only place not packed for breakfast. Bad idea. 1st no AC very hot inside. Every taco is six dollars even bean and cheese for the kids. Can't just go in and order some good reg ordinary breakfast tacos. Had to stand in line to order then sit down. Order took over 30min for three tacos but then again never did get order just took 30min for me to say something. A group of six and another group of four that ordered after, recieved their food 1st. Child almost fell out of high chair that was defective missing the middle braces. After sweating for over half an hour for three tacos and my child almost being hurt I politely asked for a refund. I was rudely denied a refund stating my food was ready. The work going to the back to yell at the cooks about my order. I asked for refund again was told no because food was ready. Then food came out it was not mine. This cycle continued to happen and the orders coming out were not mine. I continued to ask for a refund and continued to be denied. I told them I was out of time had plans and had to go. They said they would just bag my food. Told them no I was trying to have a sit down meal with my family. They still refused to return money. Food finally came out. I was done being so polite and refused the food and demanded a refund. The worker made a scene while return my money. All this at a vacation spot smh. My family and I went to SPI for our summer vacation and wanted a good Mexican breakfast..as soon as we walked in it looked nice all the deco was very pretty and their Artesanias store was nice as well. Before coming here I checked reviews and they were mostly good very few had negative comments. We decided to go after all the good reviews… I will tell you it was the worst mistake and $80 badly spent. We ordered 2 plates of huevos divorciados with chilaquiles and barbacoa, bacon and egg plate, potato and chorizo plate and 2 tacos. The first plates the barbacoa was about 2 table spoon serving and the salsa on eggs was horrible. The potatoes and chorizo were so dry and no flavor beans were were canned beans. No flavor on those beans….The tortillas were huge and under cooked you had to eat then as quickly as possible because they turn into crisp chips and also had to flavor. My girls had a $6 taco each that they just tasted and didn’t even it because they said it was bad tasting. There is no way why anyone would pay so much money for food that is horrible. I was so upset that this place has mostly good reviews. Please don’t visit this place just buy Tacos from Stripes Laredo Taco Company you won’t regret it. We paid $20 for tacos for a family of 7 and they...
