Torrid — Local services in South Portland

I've actually had some really great finds here but let's face it this place is expensive. It's great to be able to find some nice fitting clothes but as far as the actual store could be better. I prefer going to the store itself instead of shopping online because I like being able to try on something it might look really great in pictures but really off on yourself. My last experience here was probably my least favorite and why I haven't been back in a while. I went and looked at the shoes and then went straight to the clearance rack obviously the only place that have decent prices and even then it's a little high. End up finding really nice dress I was about to have a couple pictures done and thought I would go great. Now it's all been fine so far then I try to check out there's a woman there that hasn't been in the store in a while now there are two registers at this point important for later. They're two employees store manager and check out girl both are talking to this woman about her card which apparently she got in the beginning when the first store opened. That's fine and everything but we're waiting to check out this woman has no purchases whatsoever and it's just looking at a card asking about coupons cash back toward cash what have you. So you would think at this point one of the two workers there would see us acknowledge our presents say will be with you in one moment or they'd open register or ask a woman to move to the side so we can do our purchases as she's not even getting anything. Well that's a big fat no so we continue to stand there waiting and waiting and waiting with absolutely no acknowledgement we end up looking around the store a couple more times looking at leggings wandering around thinking maybe they'll finally be done. But no this woman wants to go through every coupon she would have been eligible for for the last couple of years???? At this point I'm done I return the dress to the rack and leave. Was really disappointed and actually thought about going back for it several times...

Theresa is horrible!!!!!!! Horrible horrible horrible. Will absolutely never return back to Torrid due to how terribly my girlfriend and I were treated. We arrived with a return, on our 59th day of their 60 day return policy. Tags on, unworn. I had lost a bit of weight and no longer needed the size I had purchased those few weeks prior. She immediately looked at the recipt, and refused our return. She said HER policy, as the "manager", was that she did not accept returns after 30 days. However the COMPANY, Torrid, states the 60 day return policy on not only their website but also on the receipt itself. At this point, I was in tears, as it felt like a slap in the face to have lost weight and not been able to fit into those jeans anymore, and to be stuck with a $70.00 purchase. I have been a faithful customer of Torrid for 8+ years and have NEVER been treated so poorly. At this point I called customer service, and they completely agreed that she was being outrageous and completely uncalled for. Because this was an in person purchase, they physically could not send me a refund, but they did call her and let her know about the return policy and asked her to out it through for me. She refused, again, and hung up the phone on customer service. I am now stuck with jeans that do not fit, and feel so insulted that this terrible person is allowed to treat people this way. I am not in the place to throw away $70.00, I have an appartment, bills, lots of things going on in my life. I hope she knows how deeply her actions hurt me. I've been waiting for Torrid to contact me however they still have not. At this point I just hope she is not treating anyone else in this way. This store is generally my go to for clothes. The staff are usually wonderful, and hilarious, which makes the experience one I look forward to. Unfortunately last night was an entirely different experience and so out of character for the store that I felt I needed to share this review.

There were two employees working, one a Young male who said he was the manager and a young woman. I had never encountered either before and I come to the store more often than I tell my husband! Anyways, they were both quite boisterous, bordering on inappropriately so. The manager was helpful while I was shopping but things went downhill when myself and another woman were checking out.

I waited as the manager checked out the woman in front of me and the second employee came up to chat with him about how the district manager was in the area. They both joked about being fired when he met them and then went on to talk about who he should fire. There was one employee in particular that they then were gossiping about while still checking out the one person. It was malicious and not the place for such a conversation. The manager even acknowledged being a bully while he was making sport of this other employee. Definitely not the appropriate model for other employees.

Eventually the second employee did help with my purchase which went smoothly until we neared the end of the transaction and I mentioned wishing I could use the 40% off VIP coupon that was good online that day. Both she and the manager said that sometimes they could make those go through in store. Rather than try this, my sale was quickly finished up and they avoided answering me when I asked if we could try and both acted as though I had never brought it up. It was...
