A week ago I went to Ulta by the Maine Mall in South Portland ME. My hair was long, curly, frizzy, and washed out. I looked like a hag and I knew it, but nothing I tried made it any better. My haircut appointment was scheduled with Marissa. She did an amazing job. She deep conditioned my hair and then added layers in a way that framed my face but only lost a few inches in the back. She then dried and styled it. The difference was incredible! My hair, even though she didn't color it, was no longer pale and it felt wonderful. I liked the cut, too. The best affirmation I received about how well Marissa transformed my hair was yesterday. As I was leaving the grocery store a woman came up behind me and as she passed me she said, "You have amazing hair." I may have been blessed with a thick head of hair but Marissa made it amazing. SIDE NOTE: I read reviews about how horrible the customer service is at some Ultas so I wanted to add that while looking at waterproof mascaras I received a recommendation for a brand that I likely never would have tried but I decided to buy it and love it. I also received attentive and courteous service when I checked out. I feel bad for those who had a bad experience. I hope they give Ulta another try. And please remember that closing time is not the same as start shopping time. Don't try to come in under the wire and then get upset because employees are trying to wrap things up with the customers already inside. It isn't fair to the employees. Most people working a day shift should be able to get there at least a half hour...

First of all, I had made an appointment at the last minute and they were more than willing to fit me in! Also, I felt like a movie star because I had about 3 people doing things for me since I not only wanted to get a cut and color but also an eyebrow wax. Anne is the very sweet and kind lady who did my hair and I loved it! She listened to what I wanted to do and did exactly that, making recommendations on how to take care of my hair to keep it that way. While the color was setting, another gentleman waxed my eyebrows, and then because my skin was red from being waxed, Anne took the extra step to grab a girl from the Mac area I believe to conceal the redness! I swear Iāve never felt more taken care of in a salon before! Thatās why I returned yesterday to get a trim and again I called at the last minute, only having an hour before I had to be somewhere but I lucked out because it wasnāt super busy (on a Saturday no less), and the hair gods were looking out for me as Anne was the one who picked up the phone. Even though this was a quick haircut, I was offered a water, and Anne took the extra time to make sure I had no split ends, applying a mending oil after to tame flyaways and telling me the benefits of using it. I was looking for a specific brand and was told by the 1st employee it is only sold online and not at their location. The next employee I was asking for recommendations, and she was not knowledgeable on what I could use where another employee stepped in to assist. When following her to a brand she recommended for my needs, I mentioned what I originally was looking for, and an employee told me that they don't have them in store. She turned and asked me how "Well how did you ask" and after repeating myself several times, it seemed like she wanted to argue and just protect her coworker where I had to just ask where the item is and I will check myself for what I need.
