4 stars – Good service overall, but a few rough edges. The team arrived right at the start of the scheduled window, and while I wasn’t home yet, my girlfriend was. They seemed a little concerned about who would be handling payment, which caught me off guard at first, but I get that they just wanted to make sure everything was set. It made for a slightly rocky first impression.
There was some initial hesitation about using the mount I already had despite it previously holding the same TV just fine. They explained it was due to how the mount was built and how it would block the wall outlet because of its solid back panel. That explanation made sense, so I went ahead and purchased a new full-motion mount. That said, there were still some upsell attempts on speakers and subs. While I did buy a new soundbar and sub, it felt a little pushy.
During the install, they mounted the 85” TV too low at first and had to re-do it, which left additional holes in the drywall. They apologized, and I understand things happen with a setup that large, but it wasn’t ideal. I also overheard one of them mention the new mount might be slightly warped, only for the other to hush him. I would’ve preferred transparency so I could decide if I wanted to exchange it.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of care handling the TV itself lots of fingerprints left behind, and they said they’d leave cleaning spray but didn’t. It gave off a bit of a “as long as it doesn’t break, it’s fine” vibe, which really took away from what should’ve felt like a premium install.
That said, the team was polite and helpful overall. They mounted a second TV upstairs, helped set up my Sonos Moves, and worked with me on the fireplace setup including helping me out a bit on the price. One of the guys even told me to reach out if I needed anything else, which I appreciated.
Overall, not a perfect experience, but they got the job done and made an effort. With a little more care and communication, it could’ve easily been a...
Read moreGeek squad is a complete and utterly waste of Best Buy resources. It's a waste of money adding their service. Bought over 3k worth of computers. The first one was crapped less than an hour after buying it, geek squad could not do anything. The other crashed in less than 3 months. Here is the shocker once again Geek Squad couldn't do anything however they could have me come up 4 times saying it was ready however they never did anything. Finally, I got a credit to get another computer. Haha none of them were same specs for the price so I had to fork out another 300+. Then wait ten day for it to come in. Was told bring the receipt and antivirus software at pick up to get it installed. They couldn't do that without keeping the computer for a couple more days. Pretty sure all the employees play the part as computer experts while behind the scenes it all is getting farmed out. Buyers beware! I will not spend my money...
Read moreI initially spoke with Woody, a Geek Squad technician at your Spartanburg, SC store, to set up an appointment to bring my husband's iPad in to the store because it was "frozen" and wouldn't re-set itself. Woody informed me that while they weren't an Apple certified store, they would be happy to look at the iPad. He then proceeded to try and locate another BestBuy that was Apple certified that would be in my traveling vicinity. He wasn't able to find one so he researched to locate my closest Apple store!! I was so impressed that he went above and beyond for me, especially when the store was about to close. I set up an appointment for the next day & fortunately Woody was at the counter when I arrived. He fixed the issue in record time and then explained how to avoid the problem from occurring again. This young man is an asset to your company & his performance cemented my relationship with BestBuy...
