2-22-25 they had a balloon popping event. I was super busy this day but decided to stop by. Walking in I noticed a bunch of balloons sitting there and got a little excited we might get one. Entering the store it was super awkward because there were probably 7 employees standing in the door way. We walked in and nobody said anything to us but I heard them talk to a lady that was walking in right behind us. I heard them offer her a ticket(piece of paper you turn in to get a ballon). I thought it was rude as hell they gave her one but let me and my girlfriend walk right past 6 people and not a word from anybody. After getting harassed by employees while trying to shop I asked one of them why i didn’t get a ticket. Don’t remember his response because I was annoyed. He walked over and got me a ticket 295 so they were almost gone. My girlfriend wanted one but she was too shy to go ask for one and figured she would ask at the register.
Then i went to go look for some ammo and the employees wouldn’t leave me alone. If I was going to steal something you would have no idea I’m taking it trust me. I guess because I had my jacket in the shopping cart with some ammo thst I was going to take it. Idk how you pick up a jacket and ammo at the same time while you have 8 employees standing there watching you at the register. They sent some stupid girl over to watch me after announcing customer service to ammo when I was the only person there. While was looking up differences between brands I could feel this girl pacing back and forth maybe 3 feet from me the entire time I was standing there. Then they had to announce for security as I made my way to the register. My girlfriend didn’t end up with a balloon and had to pay full price. I honestly should have just saved my money and spent it somewhere else. You guys needed the business i see now slow it’s getting and less and less stuff on the shelves every month.
Now since you treated us like crap I’m going to go in and buy something expensive once a week and return it the next day. So now you will have to deal with selling that item as used and open box. Or I’ll get a little deodorant on the shit when I’m trying it on then return it. So you will end up throwing it away and taking the loss.
And if I was stealing stuff wouldn’t you want to bust me at the door with your 8 employees shading there then trespass me so it can’t happen again. Now you’re going to have to deal with random returns and whatever I can return used. I know for a fact I wouldn’t buy a product from you full price if the box has been opened in any way and I’m definitely not alone...
Read moreI went during the balloon pop sale and from my past experiences at both the valley and north store you could come to the register with whatever you wanted and once you found out what percent you got, you could decide what you wanted to keep or if you wanted proceed at all, firearms included. So when I went today and they said I had to do the background checks before finding out the percent, I thought it was weird and a waste of time considering their north store hasn't done it that way previously, but hey I wanted to see if I could get a good percent. So I get to the register and get my percent, which was 25%, and even after removing the non firearms I still didn't want to go through with the transaction. I asked if we could remove one of the firearms and I was immediately hit with a rude no and that it's illegal to not buy and that i now have to buy both firearms. Of course I said no and that last few years I've been able to walk away anytime, but again they rudely and with a terrible attitude said I had to buy them and that it was illegal to remove any firearms. After arguing with them, they finally said they could void the entire transaction and that I would be done, so I did end it and had to pay the background check fee, which okay i understand. They then said to my brother in-law who was about to start his paperwork that no matter the percent, if he finished the paperwork he would have to buy the gun. Of course he said no and that he would be done. After we left, we called the customer support and spoke to someone in the hunting department and they said that they should have told us the price and done the balloon discount before the background check, which would have also avoided the background check fee.
I understand that it might waste some time when people bring up stuff they aren't going to buy, but when you tell people you can bring up anything and walk away anytime and then try and tell me i can't and that your breaking the law if you were to tell me the price before hand or to remove it from the transaction is wrong and they were incredibly rude about it and were wrong about the process anyways especially when another one of yours stores does it the...
Read moreGun counter management/ communication is terrible.
Spent just about $1000 on a new rifle. Started having consistent jamming issues/ failure to feed with the rifle right off the bat. No big deal, I know sometimes new guns have issues. I took it back in, filled out a form and they told me they’d ship it to Ruger for me, and that it’d be $20 or so to ship it.
Six weeks later, I start to wonder where my rifle is. I stopped by the store and was told that it was at the factory and there was no way to know how long it’d take.
So I called Ruger. They told me that the rifle hadn’t been there, and that they hadn’t received a repair request for that SN either.
Called Sportsman’s, where they finally admitted that they hadn’t shipped it yet and were “waiting on Ruger to get back to them”. The manager (won’t mention her name) was unprofessional on the phone, didn’t even pretend to care that I’d been waiting six weeks for a rifle they hadn’t even tried to ship out.
I called Ruger, where the customer service was awesome. They got me the repair order opened and sent me a pre-paid shipping label and said that shipping would be free both ways. (Funny that Sportsman’s wanted to charge me $20 for shipping that Ruger covers)
It took me five minutes on the phone with Ruger to do what Sportsman’s couldn’t manage to do in six weeks.
I’ve always been a big fan of sportsman’s, and have spent thousands of dollars there over the years on multiple guns, safes, fishing tackle, etc. But I will never purchase another gun there.
Ruger customer service on the other hand is great and they’ll...
