Had jewelry repair done. Went in on a Saturday morning and was told our item would be ready Thursday and they would give us a call. We called Thursday just before closing and the young man had no clue what we were even talking about. So, on Friday we called, but remembered they were closed for daughters wedding. Called again Monday and was told the item was still being repaired. Finally on Friday (1 week and 1 day past original day/date given for completion of repair) they called and said our item was ready. Upon pick up, we requested to get back the original broken clasp and was told we would have to pay $12, that they sold us the new clasp on discount and factored in the old clasp for this cost, and that when doing jewelry repair, no one ever gets the broken piece back. First of all, NEVER was it said that the new clasp was given to us at a discount (on hand price was cheaper than if they would have had to order a clasp, this was information given to us by the owner because we had a 2nd item that also needed repaired but they would have had to order the clasp), and NEVER was it said that they would keep the old clasp to cover discounted newer clasp. This old clasp belonged to us, and although not terribly valuable, it was gold, and it was ours, and if we would happen to have other broken pieces, we could sell the gold, if desired. Very poor customer service, very poor business practices. We will take our jewelry repair needs elsewhere in the future. We don't mind paying a few dollars more for better service from an honest business who values their customers, no matter how small or large their purchase may be.
*In regards to the below response from the business owner, my 71 year old mother was aggravated at the fact that she had already been lied to about the time frame for repair, and the lack of communication regarding the delay. She was beside herself just knowing they had "lost" her jewelry because they hadn't called, and when we called to check on it, the young man was entirely incompetent. My Mother never stormed out of your dismal little store, she came to the car very frustrated and upset at you taking advantage of her. and as far as her cussing and pounding the counter, she's 71 and all of 150 pounds, was she really that tyrannical and scary?! And as far as the cost for the piece and repair, we did not set that price, YOU did, we simply came in and inquired about it, and NEVER tried to get that lowered because we felt that was reasonable. You as a business owner have failed to provide good customer service by NOT calling regarding any delays, by NOT having employees who are competent enough at their jobs to answer customers questions with more than an "I have no clue" response, and by NOT providing details about keeping our piece of gold to cover the "discounted" rate you say you gave us. What disturbs me even more is the fact that when my scary, 71 year old mother picked up her jewelry, of which she had paid in advance for the repair, you NEVER asked to see her receipt, and you NEVER asked to see her i.d. As a businessman, I would suggest you work on your customer service skills, and instead of being defensive and blaming the customer, you own up to your errs and admit your faults. you rely on customers to keep your local business flourishing (not just online) and customers come by word of mouth.........and right now, those words are not...
Read moreSam not only is honest and sells quality items, but he also makes time for his customers after hrs. Tonight I needed to make a payment, I knew he was closed, but I contacted the store thru messenger and within just a few minutes he responded. He didn't tell me what time to meet him there, instead he asked what time was convenient for ME to come by. Wow!! And when I came in he didn't treat me as if I were imposing on his day and try to rush me out - he was his usual happy self and took time to not only take my pmt but also chat awhile. How many business people do you know who will meet you at their business after hrs at a time convenient for YOU?!? This is just one of the many reasons I've done business with Sam and will continue to do business with him for years to come!!! Fantastic prices, quality products and exceptional service!!! ...
Read moreThat's why you don't put your real name on here. So they can identify who you are and can deny anything. But I know what your talking about. I've made 50 bucks from an item that I took there once and was offered 10 dollars for. It's called ebay, or Craigslist. Your already on the wrong track if you can't utilize a cell phone take a picture of the item and upload it to the internet. If you don't have the internet go to your public library. If you can't go there because of lack of vehicle, walk or take the bus there. If you really need the money you will do it and not harrass a business for trying to make money from peoples used things. I agree though some people aren't always professional knowledgeable or kind. But...
