I hate to give a bad review when it's so obvious that these folks are trying to make it work while being short staffed, these days. So, I'm taking the time in line and wait time for food out of the equation. The things that downgraded my scoring for them are pretty much unforgivable. 1) when you walk into a breakfast/brunch cafe and both self serve coffee urns are empty, that's a big deal. These are things that should be checked on periodically regardless of how busy you are. 2) food was cold and the poached eggs on my Benedict were basically hard boiled. After waiting as long as we did for the food (even with people who were behind us in line getting their food first), there is absolutely no reason anything should have been cold. Alas, my Benedict and my daughter's waffle were just that. And, I can honestly say, this was the first time in my life I've gotten over cooked poached eggs (they're usually underdone, if anything) and 3) no one ever came to ask us if everything was ok - basic service protocol. So yes, it was extremely busy because the Cardinals had home games this weekend and the hotels were full. However, as I said - these are 3 cardinal sins, as far as I'm concerned. Had my husband not been served the (apparently) well cooked and hot meal, my score would have been lower.

This is one of the few breakfast spots within walking distance of the downtown hotels near the Arch Park if the overpriced hotel restaurants aren't your thing. We visited the week they opened after moving from the opposite corner of the Peabody building so everything was new and clean. The service was kind and VERY attentive. We really liked the variety that extended past the tired eggs and sausage concoctions found everywhere else. For a family of 5, it was reasonably priced. The portions were smaller than a typical breakfast at other chain restaurants but we weren't looking to be stuffed before a long day of touristing. The new. Location seemed popular with the downtown white collar workers as they were constantly coming in and picking up to-go orders. I was a little hesitant at the $4 for regular coffee but the ceramic mug and bottomless refills is more than worth it. Overall, we'll make this place a regular when staying at and visiting downtown STL.

I had really high hopes reading the menu and seeing pictures online. The actual dining experience didn't quite live up to the hype that I built up for it in my own head. I wouldn't say there was anyone really wrong with the experience, (aside from half my baon was so crispy that it sounded as though I was crunching on gravel, the pic doesn't show how crunchy it was) but it just was just average food. I could get food this quality at any mega restaurant chain out there. Again, to clarify, that's not a bad thing, but if I'm going to a local small business I feel like there should be something to set it apart from the rest. Our group of 4 just didn't find that on our visit. Would I come back? If I lived here, sure I probably would. But I'm from out of town so I'd more than likely try a different option for my next breakfast.

One of the worst dining experiences ever. Ordered bacon and eggs for me and biscuits and gravy for my wife. Our friends in our party got sandwiches. No server taking our order you just walk up to the cash register. 35 minutes had passed and no food for my wife and I. People after us were getting there bfast orders. Inquired and was told 5 minutes and it would be ready. 10 minutes later still nothing. Our friends were about done and we needed to get going so I went up and asked for a refund. Got a "manager" and she had a little bit of an attitude when I asked for a refund. Said our food was ready and that we were told it would be 30 minutes to get our food. Well no it the food wasn't ready and no we weren't told that it would be 30 minutes. We were already 45 minutes into the wait at that point. Got the refund and went back to our table as our friends finished up. No hard feelings was ready to go. Then the "manager "came up and he was full of attitude. Saying our food had been ready for 10 minutes and we were told there would be a 30 minute wait for food which again that was not stated. Started saying how there were 80,000 people in town, and that our food was being cooked on another line (excuses excuses excuses) and we could take the food to go. Told him didn't we didn't want the food and to take it with us would just mean even colder food if it had indeed been ready for now 15 minutes. Then he said do you want a refund. I told him we already had the refund and then he tells me I have an attitude!! At that time had to leave the place because his already horrible attitude was getting worse and no longer wanted to listen to his mouth. He kept blabbing to my wife and friends as they were leaving. He just couldn't let it go. 80,000 people or not they were not busy. In fact we sat immediately and there were other tables available. In addition one long table was being used to roll up silverware and napkins so they were not busy at all. 45 minutes for bacon and eggs?

Go to Chili Mac's. Awesome restaurant!! Fantastic service and great food. They were packed with a waiting line and were outstanding handling "80,000" people.

I will say that the servers at Ukraft were friendly. Beyond that I wouldn't recommend this...

We were there with friends who ordered before us and waited 30 minutes and didn't get their food. They went to inquire and were told it would be another 5 minutes. After another 10 - 15 minutes and still no food he went and asked for a refund. He was given attitude but given his refund. My wife and I finished up and as we were about to leave the manager came over with a bunch of excuses for why they were slow. All of which were BS because many others ordered after we got there and they had gotten their food. He then accused my friend of getting an attitude for not wanting his order. As we were walking out the manager made a smart-ass comment about demanding a refund and then refusing their order. He was rude, the service for them, was non-existent. I can't recommend eating there. Not worth the hassle and attitude.

UPDATE: In response to the owner's response. There were not 80,000 people in your restaurant, in fact, there was no line waiting to get seated. And if the food was indeed ready in 30 minutes, why wasn't it brought out? It was 45 minutes after ordering that a refund request was made and another 5 or so before we were treated rudely by yourself/manager with excuses for why the food wasn't delivered to the table even though others that came in after us got theirs in a timely manner. Why would anyone accept an order after it supposedly had been ready for 20 minutes and not brought to the table? Just own up that you forgot an order and apologize instead of making excuses. A good business would not treat a customer even more poorly after screwing up their order and then insult them for not having the time or desire to accept cold food. Face it, you messed up and then...
