If I could give zero stars, I would. Of all the pb centers I've been to, the system here is the absolute worst so far. I was really excited about this 24/7 pb place opening near my house. What a waste. There's no staff present, it's goes by the honor system and b/c this was my first time there, I didn't realize you had to use the app to open the door. This guy rushed me to open the app to ipen the door, and only afterwards did I realized that he was just gonna come in and play for free. I booked the open play from 10pm to 1am, but the amt of ppl in there vs what the actual bookings listed did not line up. Also, there are only about 5 courts that were for open play while the other 3 or so were reserved. I got there at 11pm and since there were way more ppl there than there should have been, I only got to play 2 games in 2 hrs. The back courts had ppl playing in there for over 40 mins thinking they could get away with it, and when confronted, they lied they were only on there for about 10 mins and that their score was 9-8, how does that even make any sense?!? The courts are pretty small, there's no room at baseline to return a hard serve. You end up hitting the back wall with your paddle. And the rating for stacking paddles is too big of a range in one pool as well. They have beginner, then it jumps straight into 2.5-4 in one pool and then 4+, where as most places have beginner, 2.5-3.0, 3.5-4.0 and then 4+. Since there's no staff on site, you can stay as long as you want, there's no one regulating anything. As an actual paying customer, if this continues, this place will lose actual paying customers that don't want to put up with the stress and bs. $15 for only 2 games in 2 hours and the stress of ppl coming in and playing for free was not worth it. Go to an actual pb place that has a good system in place and staff in hand, which is technically all the other pb places in Houston. After that experience, any place is better...
Read moreGot to check out the gym during Advanced open play. It's hard to complain at the $5 price point but wanted to give some feedback.
When you advertise advanced open play, especially when the system requests for a Dupr confirmation (which was pretty neat, I havent seen it done elsewhere), the idea begins to fall apart when you allow anyone from regular open play to join. I'm all for playing with the community but in that case I would just join regular open play. The problem is you had players likely below 3.5 joining making games very unbalanced. Some were joining because the regular open play stack was getting large, maybe too many open play slots were allowed.
My recommendation would be to have bracelets for advanced open play players so it's easy to track. Some of us went out of our way to visit the gym from our home gyms and hoped for a better experience. With the current set up it would be difficult to recommend for our peers.
Really nice scan in feature, super convenient. Best beverage station we've seen at reasonable prices. Would recommend more bag hooks so bags are off the floor so that people have more space to sit/congregate.
Hope to visit again in the future.
Updating to 5star just for the response from the business. Friends that go regularly do mention and notice improvements since they have opened. Good job...
Read moreJust tried this place for the first time. Here's my take: Pros: Nicely decorated Large selection of snacks and drinks Decent lounge area The automated app entry is pretty neat. Open play pricing is very affordable if you register early Glass barriers is nice. Pickleball is a social sport and the see through glass add to the experience Cons: Court size is simply too small. You will constantly smash your paddle against the glass barrier. It is simply frustrating playing on these courts. After a while you subconsciously afraid to swing your paddles when you're near the back line. Makes serving and return of serve extremely difficult. Steel posts in between the courts. Multiple times I get balls flying in that direction and I almost run full speed into them. Courts too close to each other with temporary barriers. So many balls interrupting our games Lighting. The lighting here is probably the worst I've seen. The ceiling are already not that high and the bright direct lighting turns any lob into a nightmare when you have to look up. There are also a couple courts that have people face the front entrance which is just too bright if you're playing during the day time. These days courts are getting built with indirect lighting where the light shines into the ceiling and reflect down. I'm surprised they didn't...
