This is the worst Thai meal I have had for years. It is not typical Thai food. Not only that when the server brought the bill it was around $30.00 , but when the server brought back the charge for me to sign it was around $35 so I put the tips around $5 to make $40. However I realized that my family has 3 plates of luncheon specials which should not be more than $30 (including tax). So I went back to the restaurant and asked to have a look at the check. The lady at the cashier stand ( I assume she is the owner) looked at me with surprise and told me the amount of the check was right. She was partially right on the food of my family but she did not tell me the tip was included. I was mad because on the menu it was not stated 18% tip will be added to the check and the server never informed the tip was already included. I told the lady if the server added the tip they should inform the guest, otherwise , the guest will pay a double tip to the server( in my case is 33%tip )I also told the lady I myself have been a server for 40 years ( a veteran not rookie) and this is one of the tricks to make easy money. Guys next time when dining in this restaurant please be careful.
This is the follow up from my previous complaint about the adding tip on the check. After I found the 18% tip was added to my check I told the lady to delete the extra $4.82 tip that I put on. A couple of days later I checked the finalized charge on this item it was $40.00 (which meant the lady ignored my complaint on the extra tip that I put on ). I had to call the bank to dispute $4.82 on my charge. Actually I could dispute the 18% tip of the restaurant too because there is no such law I have to pay the tip. Tip is the appreciation of service but not mandatory payment. If this cashier said the tip is automatic on that day I will ask her to call the police to settle the issue.
Also I know a lot of Thai friends told me that this restaurant only has Latinos ( I guess cheap labor costs ) cooks. I do not discriminate against the Latinos cooks but it is not typical Thai at all. On the whole this is a rip off restaurant . If I can give zero stars...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS AMAZING. I absolutely adore Thai food so I go to Thai restaurants often, and I have never had a better experience than I’ve had here. We went here around 8:30pm in Ramadan and the place was packed because a lot of people were fasting. The owner was so wholesome and greeted us and started a really fun conversation while we waited for our table, which took only a few minutes. Multiple waiters came up to us to make sure we were okay and had everything, despite the restaurant being busy. They got our drinks and appetizers out in barely a few minutes, and the food came just another 5 minutes later which is so impressive considering how many customers they had to take care of. The owner l said he knew we were fasting and wanted us to eat as soon as possible so he tried to hurry our food up which was so so gracious of him. The ambiance was amazing with the beautiful plates and decor. Now let’s talk about the food. IT WAS DELICIOUS, 10/10, we ordered Thai tea with tapioca which was the perfect amount of sweetness, the crab cheese rolls were freshly fried, yummy, and gooey. MY FAVORITE SO FAR, the pad ke mao with beef, you have to get it, it looks so underwhelming but it’s packed with so much flavor and the beef was perfectly cooked, they definitely did not skimp on it. The noodle, beef, vegetable ratio was was perfect and the red curry was absolutely delicious with the rice, extremely creamy and flavorful. All the food was deliciously out of this world, the owner and staff were so extremely kind and helpful, the wait times were practically nonexistent, and the ambiance was chefs kiss. The owner even packed us an extra container of rice because he knew we were fasting tomorrow and told us to make sure we were eating well, you don’t find that type of personal touch and kindness anywhere else. 11/10 rating, you...
Read moreUsually, my wife and I eat at Thai Cottage in Sugar Land at least twice a month. However, we passed by the Thai Siam for the first time about a month ago and decided to give it a try. Our experience was a pleasant one. The food was delicious. Two weeks later we decided to try a second time. Again, very good food. Last week we went for the 3rd time. My wife ordered L-14 which is some type of Pad Thai noodles with both chicken and shrimp for $6.95. My wife told the waitress that she didn't want chicken, only shrimp. Both of our meals were again delicious. However, when we looked at the bill, there was an additional $2.00. I asked the waitress what this was for and she told me that because my wife didn't want chicken, they added more shrimp. I told her that we did not request additional shrimp and asked her to remove the additional $2.00, but she told me that she couldn't. I asked to see the manager and was told he was not there. After arguing with her for a few minutes with no resolution, I reluctantly paid the full bill and left. I think this was very poor way of conducting business. Therefore, even though we found the food to be delicious, my wife and I have decided to not eat there anymore and will return to our beloved Thai Cottage instead. It is a shame that they were unwilling to remove the $2.00 charge. They will now lose our business, which averages $30-$40 a month. I should give them a 4 or 5 star rating for the food, but because of our experience last week, I will give it two stars as a warning to others to be careful about additional...
