WORST GROOMING SALON — GAVE MY DOG A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE 🚫👎
On March 1st 2025, we went to PetBar in Sugarland to have our dog, Luka, groomed and trimmed. Prior to such appointment I booked online and put specific instructions (i.e., not to cut his lashes and just give him a trim). When I arrived at the boutique, the receptionist said Luka will be groomed for 2 hours so I left him there.
An hour into the grooming, they called and said they needed to take out all of Luka’s hair because he had a lot of matting. I insisted just to leave the hair and just do a bit of a trim since as far as I remember there was not a lot of matting in his hair (check before photos). They insisted that it was NEEDED. They pushed for it for 30mins even though initially we didn’t agree. I just said to spare the hair around his face.
After we picked up Luka, I noticed that they gave my dog a terrible haircut, in this case a terrible shave. The hair was not even, there were patches of hair left in his body, and they even cut his lashes even though we specifically said not to. The nails were not cut even.
WHAT’S WORSE is that my family noticed Luka was licking his legs, and when I checked it was red and he was whimpering when we touched it. We consulted Luka’s vet the day after and she confirmed that Luka had RAZOR BURNS. HE WAS ALSO NICKED IN SOME PLACES ALL OVER HIS BODY. The vet even advised us to ask the groomer what kind of razor the groomer used, and that probably it was too hot when the razor was used on Luka.
We tried to contact PetBar about what happened, and they only offered an oatmeal bath (we didn’t take it). They didn’t even acknowledge the vet report we sent them via email. They even made up lame excuses just to avoid the blame.
2 weeks later, when I gave Luka a bath, I also noticed that they left my dog TRAUMATIZED over what happened. He was whimpering during bath and blower — far from his usual reactions before we had him groomed here.

Read moreIf I could give 0, I would. I took both my dogs for baths and toenail trims. My dogs used to just give the paw and sit there. They cut my dogs toes (multiple bled) and have traumatized them. Now I can’t even touch my own dogs paws due to what their inexperienced groomer has done. The only reason I found out is my dogs rear paws were never trimmed so I assumed they forgot. I called and they said bring them back in. Took them back and the owner started yelling about my dogs being aggressive. (They are not- one is a service animal) then it was revealed the groomer had made multiple toes bleed and that’s why they only did the front. I advise everyone to keep their beloved dogs away from this awful place. The manager needs customer service training and the groomers need to be trained properly. I will not be back and I hope this business goes under. I’ve attached the charge as well in case the owner tries to argue. (My mom had won a coupon so the price would have been more but that’s why we tried it out)
I ALSO DIDNT GET MY REFUND AS PROMISED
UPDATE: they still send emails but never got my refund. The owner is still an awful person who has garbage customer service and I will continue to let everyone know the physiological trauma they unleashed on 2 of my dogs. Who still cannot get their nails trimmed because they are so scared after this place ripped their toenails out and made them bleed. Save your money and don’t go here. Please shut this terrible place down.
Update: Still never sorted this. My dogs are still traumatized from their toes being cut...
Read moreI usually take my dachshund to PetSmart but the service there has always been hit or miss. My girl is 15, a little senior citizen, and I always ask that they handle her gently. She’s usually nervous and shaky during grooming and often comes home covered in fur, which never made sense to me. The atmosphere always felt stressful, so I decided to try somewhere new.
I remembered seeing Petbar being built a while ago and decided to give it a shot. The staff at the front were welcoming, and the groomer, Chelsie, listened to how I wanted my dog’s coat trimmed. I dropped her off around 11:30, expecting the usual 2–3 hours like PetSmart by 12:05 they texted me saying she was ready. I actually called to make sure everything was done, and they confirmed it was. Even when I was delayed on my way back, they told me not to worry, they had made her a little bed to rest in while she waited.
When I walked in, I didn’t expect to see her tucked into a drawer lined with towels and covered up. She looked calm, cozy, and relaxed. That kind of care is rare. My senior girl can be anxious, but they went above and beyond to make sure she felt safe and comfortable. This experience was a 10 out of 10 from start to finish. I’ll definitely keep bringing my girl here for the rest of her days. Thank you, Petbar, for treating Whiskey with so much love and...
