My family of 4 and I have lived in Syracuse for two years and have always used this pharmacy without any issues until 3 months ago. The male pharmacist that use to work there was so friendly and very helpful, sadly he left and he was replaced. I’ve had to deal with two women in the last 3 months who have been absolutely unprofessional and rude. The younger one with longer black hair is by far the worst. Both my kids were prescribed Iron. Their dosages are not ones to be found over the counter per their Dr. My oldest can swallow pills and we’ve had no issues getting her prescriptions. But my son is younger and can not swallow pills and needs a liquid form. I filled his prescription and after a week of it not being filled I went to the pharmacist and asked what was going on. In her broken English she told me she canceled the prescription as we can go out and find it over the counter! She never notified us of her decision! I went and looked out on the shelves in Walgreens and went back to her and told her there was no iron on the shelves and she said very rudely so go to Target, Walmart or another store I’m busy! We went to said other stores and alas could not find liquid iron. We even asked other store’s pharmacists and they all said you can’t get that prescription over the counter. I went back to Walgreens the next day to tell the pharmacist she needed to fill the prescription! She then said your son he can take Enfamil with Iron! Enfamil with iron is baby formula!!! My son is 11 and I can tell you now he would not drink that and the amount of formula he would need to drink every day to get the dosage the Dr prescribed would be a lot! She said then you move to Ogden where kids have iron issues and you can get the prescription you’re looking for. Kids here in Syracuse don’t have iron issues it’s a poor family issue! I immediately asked for a manager and the female store assistant manager came over, super nice as always, and informed me unfortunately she could not do anything as she is not a manager for the pharmacy only the store and at the time the pharmacy did not have a manager that could hear my complaint, but I should write a review as so many people have been complaining about this pharmacist. I told the pharmacist she was to fill the prescription and us living in Ogden or Syracuse should have absolutely no bearing on if she should fill it or not! She put it back into the system and it took another 12 days for it to finally come in due to it being hard to get through the supplier was her reasoning. The next month when I refilled it the same pharmacist did the same thing!!!! Told me again you go to Ogden where there’s iron issues. I told her no you fill it today and then kindly suggested she order extra for back up as this is something my son needs to take for another month before they test his levels again. I told her iron issues can happen to anyone. Poor or rich. Young or old. Any color of the rainbow. Her comment about not filling it because Syracuse doesn’t have an iron issue is like saying Syracuse doesn’t have an HIV issue. HIV can happen to anyone no matter the location! You have a legal prescription it is your job to fill the prescription! Not take it upon yourself to cancel it because we’re not located in specific area that has no issues! She going to screw up bad, if she hasn’t yet. Like I said the male pharmacist was fantastic and the techs have always been great. Get rid of these new...
Read moreTL;DR: Will never schedule flu shots here again after being treated so poorly.
Scheduled 4 flu shot appointments for my family being 5:00, 5:15, 6:00 and 6:15. The appointments should have been all together but the website had many issues when scheduling. I know my way around technology but the scheduling on the website was one of the worst. You'd think that you can select your times together. But as you select your times they fill up and change and reloading the page would show the opened slots again and rinse and repeat. It was as if I was playing whack-a-mole with appointments.
We figured it shouldn't be an issue to get 4 shots grouped together and be done so I called about 1:00pm to see if I can fit them in together. I was met with a very condescending tone and was talked to like I am 2 years old. I was told to schedule it online and was hung up on. I figured I would just head in at 5:00 and see if they can fit them in anyway.
Arriving at the pharmacy desk I asked to see if I can fit my flu shot appointments together with my family. I was told I probably could and would have to get the first 2 done and see if the people scheduled between us would be there. We understood that it would be a possibility we would have to wait for the other 2 between 5:15 and 6:00. We said we would like to get my appointment done first and the second being my mom because the 5:00 and 5:15 appointments were for my sister and my dad. The pharmacist said she might be able to do that and she'd check with the other pharmacist to be sure.
After checking with the other pharmacist she said "so, it's for your dad and sister, correct?". I corrected and told her the other way around and she went and asked the other pharmacist again. She then came back and asked to make sure it was my sister and I. I told her it was for me and my mom. She said ok then started going through the paperwork and asked again who was going to go first and second. We went through this circle for about 15 minutes. I asked how I would schedule this in the future and was told to schedule it online. This whole conversation that had gone on for about 25 minutes ended with me canceling the appointments and leaving.
This isn't the first time I have dealt with this pharmacist. I have called about my prescriptions and been hung up on multiple times by this particular employee. I understand if the pharmacy is understaffed and overworked because I have been there. But to treat customers as such I do not sympathize with. There is only 1 pharmacist there who I would actually recommend talking to because the way he handles customers is very professional. Avoid anything other than prescriptions here and even then I would only fill prescriptions if...
Read moreI really hate to leave negative reviews but I keep having issues with this Walgreens pharmacy and it’s becoming a real problem. I used to get my prescriptions filled at the Walgreens in Kaysville and never had any trouble. Got everything in a timely manner and the orders were always correct. Then we moved and have been using the Syracuse Walgreens and it has been nothing but trouble. I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum when pregnant. I need regular medication to help me be able to keep food and fluids down. This pharmacy has been struggling with charging my insurance correctly, thus making the price outrageous. When they do charge my insurance correctly they don’t fill the prescription in a timely manner. I refill my prescriptions early but I have still run out a multiple times now due to this pharmacy’s huge delays. There have been times I have called to refill my prescription they say they’re working on it and it will be ready at a specific date and time and then it isn’t ready and they say they were never notified that I had called to refill it. I haven’t just struggled with my prescriptions. My toddler had a very bad case of croup and needed a steroid to help her breathe at night my doctor sent in a rush order and the pharmacy said it would be ready before closing. The prescription was not ready before closing and we were madly trying to contact them or another pharmacy to get the prescription. I’ve been trying to give this pharmacy the benefit of the doubt. I don’t know if this pharmacy is short staffed or something but the service here leaves much to be desired. My family does not get prescriptions that often, but when we do need them it’s usually for something very important. These delays, miscommunications, and errors have caused us a lot of difficulty and it’s extremely aggravating. Please work on fixing...
