So we came here to get a pressed penny from their machine and shop. The woman greeting (if that's the word, she was very rude) was just horrible there. She refused to provide change so we could buy things from her machine (needs quarters) and tried to force my 10yo to buy something else for change to use on her own machine... Easy to ID with a funky (cool) braided haircut. Wish her welcome was half as cool as her hair. She was just mean.
Even worse, she is so entitled in her attitude that when another man bought something and he caught her opening the register so she 'had' to finally trade my son 4 quarters, she tried to tell me son 'be grateful for that man who just got you change'. After seeing this, I immediately pulled my daughter from shopping there as she was literally telling my son "be grateful for the man who saved you from my horrible customer service and entitlement policies". It was just all wrong and I was shocked she treated a kid who just wanted to buy something he collected from her with such disdain and avarice.
Needless to say, we got his penny (only place in town) and then went straight across the street to Taos Trader and purchased over $50 worth of items as we had a list (shot glasses, Fridge magnet, earrings, etc). I hope everyone gives the other shops business and stops coming here as they seem to want to just take their customers for granted and bully small kids into buying collateral things,.all while trying to teach them to be grateful they are being abused as consumers?
I mean, if you're gonna be a bad vendor, don't ask the boy to be grateful for your horrible commerce actions? That was just over the top...

Taken aback, I put them away like she asked an browsed another isle. My grandmas then told me to she couldn’t find a toy so I went back to grab one, and the lady came back and very rudely asked why I was back using the toys. She said I was disrespecting her and that if I wanted to try out the the toys so bad, I should buy them. I asked her why she didn’t want me to touch them and she said kids in the past have broken them and she could not sell them. My grandma then arrived at the toy isle and I helped her pick a toy, knowing the lady was looking at me. We selected a toy and checked out (with a kind lady that made up for all the rudeness the...
Read moreThere's a lot of nice souvenir items and shirts to choose from related to Taos and New Mexico. Nice big store and you can walk around for a while. There are some discounts inside if you buy more than one particular item.
However, when we went to pay, I stood at the counter for a while and nobody came up. I eventually found an employee, but she didn't seem particularly welcoming. She wasn't outright disrespectful or rude, but I didn't feel valued as a customer. But no surprise after reading...
