I went in to sell a couple of items. Lucy said come sit down. Let me see what you got. I have a 1984 panda 1/10 coin in A bezel . She offered 150 and I said wait what’s gold going for and I think it was at 3900 something dollars and I said OK this is 1/10 and she said well that’s not pure gold and since it’s in a basil it makes it worth less money I was trying to understand that concept of her explanation it had no logic. The coin is gold .999 and her telling me it wasn’t and then that having it in a bezel makes it worth less. She would now have to sell it as a pendant not a coin. She kept asking some lady who I could not see for a price. I said I was expecting at least $ 400.00 and she basically laughed, then said it’s not gold and its value was less because it’s now a Pennant! I looked on eBay it’s going for almost $600.00 . I also have a emerald ring which I have already been offered from another establishment, I was just curious and she said right away it was silver ( no white gold) and not a real emerald ( which it is a natural real emerald) she said she would need a certificate saying it was real. I said it was an engagement ring and I don’t have that she said then she could only sell it as a ring with a green stone in it. I look at all the other reviews and I’m thinking this must just be People they know and family that have written one yes there might be one or two that aren’t but they were way off! I have been shopping and pawning items in this store for years. I pawned a ring with a large diamond a couple years ago I went to retrieve it & paid off the loan for $1350.00 I asked how much could I sell it or get another loan for it? The manager looked at it took the size & replied $275.00!! I told him something is wrong I just paid off the last loan for $1350! He said yes when you pawned it last they put the diamond size incorrectly. I said oh so mine is much smaller? He replied no your diamond is bigger!!! I couldn’t believe it! He said everyone wants the fake stone’s now!! I still couldn’t understand! I tried again to explain it to no avail. I told him I had been a customer for years but he said I can’t help you! I spoke to the general manager at headquarters Margarita and was asked to find all receipts for my previous purchases and e-mail them to her due to the fact that I didn’t have a history in there computer system if I did that she could have a jeweler look at my ring?? I was actually going to look for them but realized I would be a fool!! Just for her to tell me the same ridiculous thing! The store changed ownership about 8 years ago I can think of no other explanation for this. If you’re going into pawn or sell anything please realize they will scam you. Research your item before so they can’t get away with there fairytale stories or just don’t go there at all! I will not shop or pawn...

Always have good experiences with this pawn shop. Gem and loan’s definitely is the only shop I go to… today with exceptionally pleasant… Felicia helped me out and for being new she definitely seems like she’s at the right place. She was very nice and wasn’t afraid to ask the manager for assistance, therefor making sure that I was pleased and my needs were met. They definitely make sure to keep it real with they’re customers and I’ve never had a bad experience, they’ll even work with you on your loans and whatnot as long as you’re communicating with them and making sure you keep to your word. They’ve given me up to a week or more longer on paying a loan off so I don’t lose the item which goes a long way in my eyes.
