Harbor Freight — Local services in Town of Camillus

I went to Harbor Freight to buy a few items on the 4th of July using a 20% off one item coupon. When I got home I noticed that they applied the 20% to the first item on the receipt and not to the highest price item. When I was in the area again I stopped by to see if I could get an adjustment. The cashier advised me that the computer automatically assigns the coupon and she could do nothing about it. The cashier followed up stating that not all items are covered by coupons and certain manufacturers do not allow the coupons on their items. I said that it would have been nice when I was buying them if the cashier had said that the coupon doesn't apply on certain items. The cashier I was speaking with then gave me a lecture that the cashier's only responsibility is to ring up items and collect money and it is the customer's responsibility to know what the coupon applies to. After being verbally berated I asked to see the manager who came out and in so many words advised me to shut up and leave. This is the worst case of customer service I have ever encountered. A few kind words from the store employees apologizing for the misunderstanding would have kept me a customer. Instead I was treated rudely and will never go back to Harbor Freight. Organized and clean. This particular location is one of my favorite places if I'm looking for a tool and don't want to break the bank. Say what you will about the quality but the prices are reasonable for what you're getting so I'm never disappointed. Honestly, I have tools in my shop, from a time when I had far less money for tools, that are 20 years old, used and abused and they still work great. But here's why I love this store, everything is always super organized and tidy with prices clearly visible and the staff are always awesome. Today I stopped in to get a cheap tire quage because I couldn't find mine. On walking in the store, one staff person (Clark) asked me how the nailer I bought a month ago worked out. He remembered me AND what I bought. Just wow. I don't remember my own grandmother's name sometimes. He and a second staff person (Mark) were super helpful in getting me in and out with what I needed, all with a smile, or at least what I perceived as a smile behind the masks that all the staff was wearing (thank you btw). i thought your hours were 8am to 8pm i got there at 7:38 and the doors were locked on the outside and the inner doors were open if your hrs are 8 to 8 i would like to know why the doors were locked. i had this happen before . this is not a good way to run a business 8 to 8 means 8 to 8 . i was there once before and was told couldnt use the bathroom at 730 because they cleaned them another 8 to 8 issue. i was looking to buy a generator and had question and they couldnt help me because it was to late they lost a 2000 dollar sale . i think you need to hire more responsible people 8 to 8 means that not 8 to 730 there was other people who pulled in while i was there and said they will never come back to the camillus location hope you get things straightened out i wont be back to that location...
