I do love Wegman's, they are always clean and well stocked. However I feel that most things there are overpriced, especially produce. You can get a lot of the same produce at Price Rite for far less.
I do like their boneless skinless chicken breast, 80/20 burger, and pork loin. At times I will buy ribeye or NY strip steaks from them for holiday BBQs with the family. The chicken breasts aren't freakishly huge and look like they came from a 20 pound turkey. I hate buying chicken breast that literally weigh almost 2 pounds each from other stores. The prices on the meats that I buy are comparable to other stores in town.
I also really like their doughnuts!!! They are a good size for the price you pay compared to other stores in the area. I do recommend not getting their custard filled doughnuts later in the day, they seem to turn at some point. I gotten some of them after 6:00 pm and they had a sour taste. Thinking it may have been a fluke I grabbed a couple a few weeks later a little earlier in the afternoon, nope it wasn't a fluke they had a sour taste too. I will only buy custard filled early in the day, when doing this I haven't had that issue.
I have had several of their store brand items and I have not been impressed with them. I usually buy store brand to save a little bit of money, but I won't buy theirs anymore. I only will get the items listed above.
One big complaint I do have is when the butchers have cut up my pork loins, I don't let them do it anymore. I have had two issues at two different stores after they cut my pork loin into chops and a roast the next day it was stinking foul and green. They did replace both loins but I am concerned why this happened. I bought the loin and had the butcher vut it in the early afternoon when I was on my way home from my shopping trip. I put it directly in my refrigerator when I arrived home. When I pulled it out the next morning it was green. When I opened the wrapping it was foul smelling, like rotten. It was in the winter with the outside temps around 30 to 35 degrees. I have gotten loins from other stores cut up by them, during summer months, and they never went bad like that. I have since stopped letting their butchers touch the meats I buy there. I bring them home, unwrap them and put them in the refrigerator overnight to drain a little. The next day I cut it up and vacuum pack it for freezing and have never had an issue. So there is something they may be doing or not doing to cause the issues I had.
Overall, Wegman's is a beautiful store but just a little expensive for my budget. If you shop with coupons then you can do better on your shopping trip.

Read moreThe store itself is nice (star for that) and employees are friendly (star for that), but the layout is pretty busy and confusing.
Mostly I'm very sad and disappointed in the grocery pickup experience. Multiple times I've ordered hours ahead for pick up after work and had it rescheduled for the next morning just a little while before I'm supposed to pick up. I work in the morning... I can't pick it up at that time. Normally I'll cancel or just pick it up the next night, but it can be frustrating still. Especially because if I don't pick it up in the morning (I can't), I'll get a text that they're going to put it all away which sucks because it's not my fault I couldn't get it when they rescheduled.
I haven't said anything because this store is busy but after this last time (like the 5th or 6th time), I figure I should warn others. If you want to curbside, keep that in mind. I have kids so I need my groceries but I don't have time to go shopping tonight because I have to drive an hour and half to pick up my sister from the airport and I can't pick it up in the morning because I have to work but I also need it tonight so I can quickly make dinner before I start my drive and they told me there is nothing they could do.
While I understand, it was very disheartening. I ordered hours ago.
Edit: Luckily, they were able to start mine this last time, I just got a text. Again, almost any other time it wouldn't be a problem but I just couldn't reschedule this time. I don't know if it helped at all that I called or if they were just able to get to it on time but I'm...
Read moreI don't think you will find disrespectful shoppers at Wegmans refusing to comply with safety standards during this pandemic. We wear our masks because "we care about our neighbors." We wear our masks because "Wegmans cares about us." We have shopped at Wegmans for years, when they were just becoming a brand in Rochester. It's a pleasant shopping experience; the colorful produce catches your eye quickly upon entering. The rythnic sounds of music lift your mood as you move through the neat aisles. At East Avenue, shoppers politely wait their trun, adhering to the prescribed social distance, expressing the courteous "excuse me" as they whiz past with a cart.
I must admit that I am not always pleased with the bagging of my groceries. The bags are packed way too heavy and not every cashier uses common sense in arranging items by weight.
This pandemic is one of many "pestilences" mankind has endured. And, It doesn't matter where it originated from, what country or what animal; it does not and will not discriminate in its attack. Wegmans has demonstrated courageous leadership in helping us shop for food and other essentials in a safe and pleasant public place. Thank you for being "a...
