I just read another review about the rude shop attendant. I had the exact same experience. I got engaged yesterday and wanted to buy a cute postcard to send to my parents - Lake Placid is a special place for us. I got a whole speech from the cashier about how I’m hurting small businesses and should have cash to pay with. If you want people to pay in cash, don’t accept credit cards or have a credit card minimum. I would’ve been more than happy to buy something else or pay extra to meet a card minimum. No need to be so rude and condescending. Left such a bad taste in my mouth that I won’t even be sending this postcard, I’ll be buying from somewhere else where the cashier isn’t so rude and condescending. She made me feel so uncomfortable - what a great way to ensure we will never be coming back...
Read moreBeautiful work, but as others have mentioned, extremely rude woman behind the counter. I don't know whether or not she was the shopowner. As I was paying, a customer behind me commented on the early snowfall, to which the woman replied it was no big deal, as it is not unusual to have received a foot of snow by this time. We have to get things done." As this is a business relying on tourism, I was shocked to hear this statement. Maybe we should all stay at home, tending to things there, rather than spending our money...

They also have stickers, and other assorted gifts that you won’t find in any of the other tourist stores. Forgot to take a photo in the store, but attached a picture of one of the...
