Stayed at The Boha hotel Feb 18-20, 2024. I travel quite a bit and this was worst experience by far. I was in one of the rooms on second level, accessed by stairs. You enter the room directly from outside, there is no floor mat in the room and snow from your shoes immediately melts. Shelf for clothes located right above fridge and microwave, not sure what you can hang there as there is literally no space. There was 1/4 inch gap between door and frame (on the picture) and the wind was blowing very hard through it, making loud whistling noise, so I stayed up entire night. In the morning I contacted the host Yuri asking to fix the door, or provide paint masking tape so I can temporarily tape the gap. Yuri said repair man was in the room and fixed the weatherproofing on the door. After coming back from day of skiing I found the vertical gap was fixed, but not the lower part of the door, you could see through this whole outside. Snapped a picture and sent it to Yuri, who was going to send repair man again. With temperature outside been -17 degree C (0 degree F) the idea of opening this door for repairs for a while didn't excite me at all, so I asked the repair been done after I leave next day. I tapped it in and it took care of the issue for second night. Little did I know it would be another sleepless night. Wall between the rooms has no sound proof, I can hear entire conversation when people next door are speaking. My neighbours stays up well passed 2 AM, so did I. Also the way outside walkway is constructed - you can hear every person walking by while you are in the room. So I learned my lesson here - while pictures of the property may look nice on the website - there is a chance this property may be different in real life. And not in a good way. Property management offered 25% discount if I don’t publish my review, but I had to decline this generous offer. After 2 sleepless nights I would like to share this, so people would know...
Read moreWhen I got to my room, I realized that there was a substantial gap between the door frame and the door, almost the entire way down. Not only did I find this to be a privacy/safety issue, (when I got close I could see straight out the door) but it was also wide enough that bugs were coming through from outside.
As soon as I checked in and saw this, I texted the number that was listed all around the room as a point of around the clock support to see if they had anything I could use to block the gap. Important to note that there is no front desk or any actual person to talk to on the premises, so you just have to hope that they will answer your text if you need anything. I did not receive a single response for the duration of my stay.
The room is not at all soundproofed and I could legitimately make out every word spoken by the people in the room next to mine. I had headphones and was able to muffle it a bit when I put the air on, but I imagine a lot of people would be extremely bothered by this.
A final nitpick is that the TV stated that the hotel has its own Netflix account that is already logged in to every room and ready to watch, but that was not true. Not a big deal at all, but a little strange to advertise that if it’s not the case.
To give credit where it’s due, I did find the room really beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The check-in/out process was easy. The location is great as it was just a few minutes for me to walk downtown.
I’m just really put off by the fact that they have their phone number posted in multiple places/check-in emails/etc., they explicitly say that you should message them any time as soon as you have any issue and they will get back to you right away, and then when I wanted to make them aware of one issue with the room I did not receive a single reply. It really was a cute room in a convenient location, but the lack of communication makes me think I probably...
Read more2/2025-unfortunately you can’t leave 2 separate google reviews. I did want to comment on my second stay with the Boha. I stayed there with my coaches for competition. We got a lock off unit with 2 separate bathrooms and beds wich shared a microwave and kuerig. I had kuerig in my room and they had microwave in theirs. While we were respecting eachothers privacy and weren’t home at the same times as they had other students competing, we each called for an extra keurig for their room as well as a microwave for mine. Staff responded immediately and brought us what we needed. They staff is very nice i cant stay enough good things about the manager Ahki, and receptionists anna and paloma as well as another staff member yuri. It says alot for the hotel chain if their staff is continued to stay with them.
My coaches were unaware of this property before their stay with me and will definitely be staying there on their many returns to Lake Placid.
2/2024-We have stayed at this property with the previous owners for many many years close to 15 years. We were sad to hear that they sold. However, the new brand white rainbow that has bought and renovated the property and hotel has done a beautiful job. We loved the new decor in the rooms. I also want to say thank you to the new staff Yuri, Paloma, and Anna from the moment i called and booked my 2 days they were such a pleasure. The staff was more than happy to keep a look out for the extra day that i was hoping to stay, sure enough they let me know the moment the extra day opened up. We also let them know when we arrived to the town of lake placid and as soon as our room was ready they let us know.
Its very beautiful and peaceful here I would highly recommend staying at this property. You will not be disappointed. The new staff is wonderful, we hope anyone who stays enjoys it as much as we do. We will definitely be continuing to stay here with the new...
