I called a week prior to our arrival in Lake Placid to see if I could make a reservation for our party of 8 to celebrate my son’s 50th birthday. I was told reservations were not taken. I accepted that response but asked what was suggested so we did not have an extremely long wait time. It was suggested we arrive at 5:00 pm. On the evening of my son’s birthday, we arrived at 5:00 and we were told we had a 45 minute wait which we felt was acceptable. This was a very special occasion and half of our family drove from Virginia to be there for this celebration. My husband and I and the remainder of our family drove 2-1/2 hours to Lake Placid. We ordered drinks and were told we could go sit upstairs and that I would receive a message on my phone when our table was ready. We were excited about the evening since it was planned to celebrate in Lake Placid since August. I went downstairs to the host/hostess desk after 35 minutes to see where we stood for our seating time. All the names were crossed out above my name and several names were crossed out below my name on the list! I was told there were no large tables available and I would need to wait a considerable length of time for my group of 8 or we could have 2 tables. The odd thing was a group of 8 was just pulling their chairs out to sit down at a large table while I was standing at the host/hostess desk and I am sure they arrived after us. The hostess said we could not move the 2 tables together that were side by side that they offered us after 45 minutes of waiting!!!! I was not happy but allowed her to seat us. My family could see how visibly upset I was about the table situation. My sister and I decided to speak to the manager and we received the same response that the tables could not be placed together. My evening of a wonderful dinner celebration with my two sons and their wives did not happen. They had to sit at one table and my sister, her husband, my husband, and I sat at the other table! It was absolutely ridiculous! I have never been to a restaurant that treated their customers this way! Every restaurant I have been to in the USA and around the world has always accommodated the number of people I was dining with at one table! One thing that made me happy is 6 out of 8 had a delicious meal. Two of us had the mushroom ravioli which was very good but for a dinner we were surprised no bread, small salad, or vegetable was served with the entree. Our server was...
Read moreMy wife and I had breakfast at Dancing Bears this morning. The waitress was an elderly, crabby old lady who mumbled and had no customer service skills whatsoever. When we got there we asked for a table for two and she literally turned her back on us and walked away without saying a word. About 15 or 20 seconds later she walked by and again and didn’t even speak to us. I did notice that she was carrying menus so we decided to followed her, and yes, I guess it was her attempt to seat us, because she put the menus on a table and asked if we wanted anything to drink. I ordered the Steak and Eggs with the Steak medium rare, when It came it was solid gray more of a medium well, the toast was very cold as well as the coffee. Needless to say I was very disappointed.
We decided to give Dancing Bears another try this evening because my wife and I were so tired from hiking all day we didn't feel like going to another location. We should of left when our waitresses couldn't get two glasses of water right. We asked for two waters, one with lemon the other with lime. Got two glasses of warm water with no ice and two lemon wedges NO lime on a plate. I told the waitress that the water was warm and asked for some ice. She brought a plastic cup of ice and poured half into each of our warm waters. Within about 3 minutes all of the ice had melted and the water was now around room temperature. I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad which consisted of a bed of romaine lettuce, stale croutons, a little shaved parmesan cheese, dressing and pieces of pale white chicken which somehow had grill lines on them. The Chicken pieces were cold (refrigerator cold) at one end and only slightly warm on the other end. The Chicken was obviously cooked earlier, refrigerated and then microwaved when someone ordered it. My wifes "from the garden" salad was mediocre at best. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to eat in Lake Placid, we will NEVER...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Dancing Bears in Lake Placid and had an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for a treat, especially thanks to our server Amy’s friendly disposition. To make the most of my visit, I decided to sit on the rooftop, which offered a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
The menu at Dancing Bears was impressive, and after careful consideration, I settled on their mouthwatering chicken sandwich. Packed with flavor, the combination of grilled chicken, bacon, arugula, grilled peaches, gouda (which I customized to American cheese), honey BBQ sauce, grilled red onion, and spicy avocado crema was a true delight. Every bite was a harmonious blend of savory, smoky, and tangy flavors, perfectly balanced on a soft and fresh brioche bun.
However, what truly made my visit exceptional was the remarkable service provided by Amy. She went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was nothing short of fantastic. Amy's attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and willingness to accommodate my request were truly remarkable. Her friendly demeanor and genuine care for my satisfaction made me feel like a valued guest throughout my visit.
Amy's exceptional service undoubtedly elevated my overall experience at Dancing Bears. It's rare to find a server who goes the extra mile to make guests feel welcomed and taken care of. Her attentiveness and dedication deserve high praise and recognition.
In conclusion, my visit to Dancing Bears in Lake Placid was an absolute delight. The stunning rooftop setting, the delectable chicken sandwich, and, above all, the exceptional service provided by Amy made it an experience to remember. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience accompanied by...
